Just remembering all the trouble the site suffered last year and how well it has recovered.

I recall there were lots of threats going on to the hackers, did anything actually happen as there were names being banded about?

I believe a retaliatory attack by some people from here shut their website down too.

Weren't the police involved?

We waited for them outside the school gates but none of them turned up

iirc he was traced and outed via facebook and others
Never attack a bunch of middle aged IT managers may be the moral

IIRC STW were in no way compensated for their losses by their insurance company and the police did **** all... glad STW made it through though and everything going well here

Yes I recall it could not be talked about at the time but as a year has moved on I thought it would be nice to know if there was a happy ending

Not sure but it amazes me how ****s think its fair-game to cyber-attack. 'oooo if I go to jail in the States I might top myself'. TBH I dont think anyone facing jail feels that tickerty-boo about it but then again you break into someones top secret database posting obscene messages and rearranging files is hardly going to get you just a 'corr mate your ace' from other hackers is it?

I recall some of the stwistas going to 'their place' and giving their punctuation and grammar a jolly fine thrashing....

The hack was exactly the boot in the arse that STW needed - the current website is a testament to what's been achieved because of it. We should be thanking the hackers 😉

Why the hack? Was it pure maliciousness and STW was just the unlucky random recipient of their attention or was there a specific reason STW was targeted?

Poor security and a wannabe hacker looking for an easy target.

Thanking them... and then extraditing them to America!

I was thinking of two 9mm friends.

I'll admit that having my address details on the site (Premier User thing) does concern me a bit considering that the old wedsite proved not to be secure....
