So it would appear that the majority of STW users have been persuaded to get in line, or booted off the forum

No longer can we discriminate against people based on the way they look, their chosen lifestyle or their religious beliefs. All of this is good

No more do we poke fun, for the sake of a thread, at the people of larger build, the people with a different shade of skin colour the minority (on stw) sex or freeliving caravan type folk, even people who ride skinny tyres bikes only suitable for tarmac are kinda accepted.

so what is it about people who vote

It's criticism of what they do not who they are.

Do you really really not understand the basis of discrimination?

similarly you can poke fun at people who get tattoos because they're ridiculously oversensitive about it while claiming not to be 🙂

what MSP said, I'm pretty sure if I punched you in the face you'd complain about it and that would be fine. Of course if you claimed I'd only hit you because I'm an obese black gay jewish gypsy then you'd probably get into trouble.

People who want their money back from a forum superstar because they've had no news from him for a couple of months. (unless the thread is still there but I've overlooked it)

Edit: I see the victim has started another thread which doesn't name and shame the fad diet merchant, we'll see how long it lasts before descrimination sets in.

dont forget people with different backgrounds or opinions.

people who judge other people for their music choice (i've already entered you into the 'dance off' part of our wedding debz) and you'll be dancing to ronan keating, the ambient remixes.

people who claim they're experts of nutrition because they once worked ina chocolate factory, then post topless photos on a forum full of men who like lycra 😉

men who find a new diet and convince themselves no other diet will work for anyone ever, forgetting everyone's different.

men who aren't men because they dont own beards

men who wear lycra and insist its 'because its the best for riding in' instead of being honest about it and saying 'i like the way it makes look like a deformed seal rushing back to the ocean on a bike'

In these straightened PC times as more and more ludicrously unreal groups become protected from my disdain it sadly becomes necessary for us bigots to seek pastures new to vent our vile and corrupt view of the world. Seems to me that Tory voters are perfectly acceptable as a group to receive said filth, albeit it is uncomfortably close to cannabalism.

Remember: Bigots are people and have feelings too 8)

People who know something about nutrition, have sporting results to prove it and disagree with a posse of fad diet followers.

People who think they are an expert based on a sample of one, and pig headedly dismiss all other information from people with more experience.

Oh and lesbians. That better?

And Tories obviously

it's an interesting point though..

I was brought up in the spitting image era.. and consequently, having little interest in furthering my knowledge of politics, just considered that mocking the Tories was as natural as taking a piss.. after all, no-one likes a Tory..

but then I guess I was also brought up in the Joey Deacon era, when Irish and Ethiopian jokes were playground currency.. and teachers still joined in with bullying the smelly speccy ginger fat kid..

I'm actually a very loving soul, the fact that I obviously feel that it's so normal to heap scorn on this minority makes me feel quite dirty when I consider it in this new light..

sorry Tory folk.. 😳

It does that that persons of religious faith are still considered "fair game".
Some of the spitefulness posted in response to christian viewpoints in particular certainly wouldn't be tolerated if made against any other demographic.

Also anything that contravenes the fables and preachings of the prophets Goldacre & Dawkins is also seen as an "stw-approved target" and liable to be a trigger for endless pages of cod-science, wiki-wisdom & google-mania.....

Well given the uniquely privelaged position that Christianity occupies in our society I'd say that comments like that are the equivalent of white middle class men complaining of sexims and racism (I'm a white middle class man by the way).

I've also been on the receiving end of plenty criticism from Christians in real life for stating the simple fact that I'm an athiest.

pretty sure most religions are fair game for "lively debate" (do tend to turn into slanging matches on here tho) spose it gets a bit iffy when talking about jewish people, any other religion/race cross overs?

Life's too short really, innit? I used to get really wound up over the religion threads, but eventually came to the conclusion that there was no point stressing myself out anymore on an internet forum. I dont spend as much time on here nowadays, possibly as a result of that, and initially I really missed the forum and people I had got to know on here. Sad thing for me is, I feel pretty ambivalent about STW now, and ridiculous as it sounds, it feels as though I've lost a part of my life that I really used to enjoy. 🙄

i think its going to be a while Mrwhoppy, got less than 9 weeks 'til my wedding and every weekend is fully booked either handmaking decorations of buying stuff for the day or visiting people to organise and collect stuff for the day. then i've got 3 weekends after that then i'm off to america for 2 weeks as a honeymoon. so the earliest will be something in late october!

EDIt - just seen bravissimo's post. i have to be honest... i did go a bit invite only as they got out of hand with too many people to keep it on track and then you get people like dezzyB turning up and trying to infect people with grey-haired-sideburn-itis. i think something late october could work though and keep it to a smaller number, not invite only... but there might have to be a 'you must be sexier than this man *points to deadly* to join this ride.
