MrsMoreCash's trusty Helly Hansen long sleeved top is showing it's age - about 15 years we worked out! - and she is looking for something to replace it with.

Any suggestions for a warm long sleeved base layers for a petite and slightly oddly proportioned* lady would be appreciated!

Thanks

* as in 4'10", size 6 lower half, size 12 top half, yes, finding clothes/outfits/shoes is a ruddy nightmare.....

Buy a base layer that fits her top half, surely? Then tuck it in.

Happy to help people who are struggling with dressing themselves... 🙄

...and who struggle to find tops with shorter arms, or who find too much surplus length uncomfortable as well as unflattering?

Happy to reply to people who have a sarcastic answer without actually thinking through the question 🙄

Helly Warm is awesome. Half merino, half Helley. Very good indeed. Failing that, Odlo is my current tip.

Both are made in proper girls proportion sizes.

Hmmm. Today I was wearing my very old Ice Breaker merino, with zipped neck, and I was toasty. However, I bought exactly the same one recently in a sale and the merino is different, not as soft and actually a heavier weight. 😕

They do keep you warm and cosy so might be worth checking out?

This is mine:

Another edit: you can get them for £44, Amazon etc.

Endura Baa Baa in womens size? I love mine, but I'm, errr, somewhat larger, so can't comment on the possibility of it fitting.

Decathlon merino baselayer? I'm not much taller than your wife and mine is pretty good.

As above would have a look at all the usual nice merino base layer stuff from IceBreaker, Howies, Embers, and also surprised myself by liking the new Altura ladies merino as it is a rather nice grey too. [those guys must have listened to the ear bashing we gave them about their kit at the ladies day in Whinlatter a few years back! 😉 ] Helly stuff also still good.

www.embersmerino.com they do lovely soft ones which are slightly different and funky, maybe a little more expensive than others but I also think better quality. I am the merino queen. I own 3 on one tops they are lovely although they do feel a lot cheaper than others and hard to get hold of. Embers have far outlasted anything. Icebreaker nice but as already mentioned be careful which weight to buy I would look at 150 or 190 gram.

Non merino I bought 2 nice cheap thickish sleeveless jerseys from Lidl at £6 each and Helly Hanson still good but a lot thinner I am a merino wool convert, worth investment, easy to wash and don't smell.

The Ice[i]breaker that CG posted is 200g unless she gets very cold I would suggest it is more for skiing but depends how cold she geys.

I love merino....

Second the HH warm merino/man made hybrid - super warm n comfy, BUT, mrs_oab and I are 'normal' shape, and neither could be described as 'ample' up top 😉 , and the HH is a very snug, 'athletic' fit.
The Patagonia's are hard to beat for comfort and fit, both in Merino and plastic flava; and are available in a range of warmths - mrs_oab has a '3' and it is snug as apparently, but a bit more relaxed of fit.

I'm slow-moving! Seriously though I only use it when it's cold, normally 0 degrees or below.

The HH baselayers still just as awesome even after 15 years 😉

My other half uses arm warmers + base layer / jersey. Endura jacket for rainy days.

Girly stuff linked (just get her to use her CC not yours )

Bought my wife some IceBreaker merino stuff for skiing - she hates it - gets wet with sweat and then she gets cold.

Also wore it in recent cold snap for running and similair story - gets back to house then she gets cold.

Bought her a HH Lifa top - love it - toasty warm and doesn't get cold after exercise.

I have a Howies NBL base layer but that has pretty much been worn to death now. I also like the embers merino tops - about the seam thickness as the Howies but a funkier design and they look good as normal tops for work. I would also consider the finisterr base layers - 2 for £80 at the moment
