My youngest turns 15 next month and has been dropping heavy hints for a keyboard.

Can anyone recommend please? Ideally budget £150-£350

Prepared for that upper end of the range if it means getting something decent. Appreciate that there’ll be bigger and better but she’s no pro.

Yamaha ez-220 is worth a look.

Thanks OTS.

Any other recommendations from folk to consider?

Also interested. I was told to go for full size weighted keys. But what else makes a good one?

Guitar player myself but do have a look at Thomann and Gear4music websites.
Lots of deals available at present and personally I find the Thomann website gives a good range of manufacturers so you can see the spread of options in your price range.

+1 for gear4music, we've had a keyboard set for my daughter and an electric guitar for my son. Great kit for not much money and super fast delivery.

Is this to learn to play piano on?

If Piano, then focus on decent keys, decent piano sound.

Yamaha P45 has a nice feel and can be had for around your budget, I have the P115 which has been replaced by the 125 and is a bit more, but the same keyboard (at least I am 99% sure), it has a limited number of voices (10), you can connect via USB to a PC and run a bazillion soft-synths, drums etc with every single conceivable sound ever. You'll need to factor in an x stand, about £25.

If not interested or not sure about piano then go cheaper/more versatile, but ideally with full size keys with touch/velocity sensitivity even if keys are not weighted as this helps make playing more expressive/fun, ez-220 looks like a good option.

We bought a Roland electric piano second hand for £250iirc, through a wanted ad on here!
According to my father in law (a very good pianist) and our piano teacher it's a very, very nice thing to play. FiL suggests it's almost as good as his £5k Yamaha to play, just doesn't sound quite as nice and not so many features he has.

Edit: it's got two of ours through grade 5 and grade 6.

As a quick update, we’ve gone for a Yamaha PSREW-410. Spec looks great and solid reviews.

Just counting down the last few days to her birthday now...
