I don't think we'd be able to share the money if we just trade though. Could maybe do a boomtime wing delivery mission. All cargo on the T9 should do most of them in three or four trips - more if we can get someone else.

Or I don't mind flying my Anaconda with its 380-odd tonnes and someone else can escort.

A couple of (perhaps dumb) questions about mining for LTDs at Borann

I’ve got the ship (AspX) and the kit. I can find and extract the bling. I’m transferring 32T at a time to me Cobra to sell somewhere at a decent price in case I need to fight for it as the Asp is too slow and is unarmed.

I wait before I start for any pirates to scan me and move on.

I still seem to be coming across other ships though. IN the last two hours, I’ve seen another miner laser mining in the far distance, a Search and Rescue Anaconda that constantly circled me for twenty minutes and a wing of two Asps that were circling round but left me alone. I don’t think they could see me because I was inside an exploded core and was too cold for their scanners. Can extended super cold periods damage the ship?

Twice though, I’ve been attacked by NPC pirates as soon as I left the ring, got away once because I had already started my FSD and jumped before my hull got to zero. Second time I got melted as soon as I started to run. Both times I had been AFK for a while (for a phone call and then dinner] and it had jumped me slightly out of the ring. Is this normal?

I thought it was a mostly solitary pursuit.

Bought a Python now but need to kit it out.

I found that pirates respawn if you leave the game and re-join, even if you're still in the ring.

You have to do it all in one go to avoid pirates.

I've got the final call with my client tomorrow afternoon wether or not the demo's complete, so I will be putting the laptop down and playing a lot more ED over the next few days - and doing a lot more riding 🙂

I'm 12 jumps from Deciat! Got so excited when I started picking up degraded emissions again. Even scavenged some, predictably punted my first target because I forgot to power up my hatches to deploy my scoop.

Squirrelking always a sign of 'civilisation' returning, though I am surprised by how far out degraded signals go.

Take care back in the bubble, especially in Deciat.

Solo or open? I wouldn't bother with that malarkey in solo. To that end, I'd just mine in the Cobra, think you can get 60 tons in one of them?

Both times I had been AFK for a while (for a phone call and then dinner] and it had jumped me slightly out of the ring.

What Molgrips said, I think it's the AFK bit that's causing the respawn, I've also had it climbing out of the ring and going back in to find a hotter spot. Do see a few craft bezzing around whilst mining, but as long as you've given them a chance to scan when you're empty on arrival, they seem to leave you be.

Little PSA for PS4 users; I’ve found that you can have a second commander with whatever name you like; You just have to make a new user profile on your PS4 and go through the Frontier process again. You then have to make your account with your PS+ sub your ‘primary’ account on that machine in the settings, and it will share the PS+ sub with all user profiles.

Apologies if everyone else already knew this. I thought it was interesting though; I sense an evil Imperial alter ego in my future...

That's a nice tip, I will do this to counter the FOMO when I'm out exploring. It seems whenever I get more than 1000Ly from the bubble, people do loads of cool stuff or find out loads of cool locations.

Still gonna struggle to join the filthy imperial dogs!

Ha!

Did a couple of jumps and at around 8 to go got interdicted by some asshat NPC, still had priority to engines so submitted and spooled up whilst boosting, got away with one shield ring down. Stopped surveying at that point and just started a mad dash of scooping and jumping. Never got any more hassle and landed on Deciat with not a scratch on me. Sweaty palms though, nearly fluffed the landing as I didn't realise my nose was down so far, landed it nose first!

Still got inside and saw my wee trip was worth 11m, nice. Wait, there are more pages? 46.7m later takes me to 51.3m in the bank and a buttload of first discoveries and maps, think I see an AspX on the horizon. Well chuffed with that.

That's great, I was wondering whether you had made back safe. 46M is good, there must have been some good finds in there.

I have two Asp X, one a miner and one a bubble jumper, so don't have a bad word for them. I prefer my Krait Phantom for exploring, such a nice ship to fly and room for everything.

Yeah I'm looking at my options, seems I can go superlight (and supercheap) with a DBX, go multirole with an AspX or spendy with the Krait.

I'm in no rush tbh, have some scavenging to do for the moment, will maybe just outfit my Cobra for fast material gathering and see where I go from there.

Managed to take out the pirate of death NPC last night.

He went bang just as his buddies finished me off so I had to eat another rebuy but I didn't care.

I also got an achievement for 1,000 kills.

I quite enjoy fighting in the Krait II. I've gone all in and ditched everything not combat related. I used to always make space for a Guardian FSD booster, a cargo rack and a collector limpet controller but I swapped all this stuff for hull reinforcements and shield cell banks.

Great stuff. I've been looking at the Krait for a pure combat build.

Pretty sure I'm nowhere near 1000 kills, though I nearly have 1000 systems (985).

Surely there’s still room for a Little collector limpet controller? Otherwise collecting up all of those sweet high end materials is going to be a painful chore?

i only bother scooping up bits from the really high end ships, so Anacondas, Type 10s Kraits and Pythons

Scooping up the grade 4 and 5 materials isn't too much of a chore with just the cargo scoop

Scooping mats in space is easy when you get used to it. I'm barely slower than with a limpet.

Bloody pirates!

Just had my first experience of hatch breaking limpets.

Thats 15 hard earned diamonds I’ll never see again.

Do the NPC pirates keep their cargo?

NPC pirates use the diamonds to feed their children!

Agree with Mikkel, run a point defence and you are safe(r). If you have choice select a utility mount on the bottom of the ship.

i dont know what it is with me and canopy being blow up all the time no matter what ship i am in.
Just happened again in the Mamba, just disengage and ran to station, but of course every single time this happens i get the classic "i am after what is in your cargo" and some daft little ship try and intercept me when my cargo is empty. my ship blew up just as my landing gear deployed and ship basically exploding into the pad lol

I just lost another type 9 to a pirate when doing a boom mission. I went back to the original station and could only buy the stuff I needed to deliver in the commodities market, not collect in the mission screen. I have the right amount in the hold, but it won't let me deliver, am I going to have to bin the mission off?

Yea pretty sure that mission is a write off, remember the mission text about being unique to the mission...
I had it while doing 2 missions at once that was a big fine.

I'm lost. No idea. I think I want to refit my Cobra into a stealth smuggler, refit those bits and do some crime until I have the engineers unlocked to make ultra exploring worth it.

Fast and light, drop, scan, grab and bolt. Interdicted, boost, tata!

Looking at stats I can end up with something almost as fast as the top ships but more manouverable.

Sounds like fun! Perchy told us that if you dock at 200 you don't get scanned and so you can have anything in your hold. The no scan part definitely works.

Finally got to the Orion Nebula. Pretty skies. Hooped around a bit, found nothing except a handy planet of biologicals which were like termite mounts with plentiful rare metal deposits on the outside.

Went straight back towards the bubble via the Witch Head, which was rammed with non human signals, stopped off at the cluster of stations there.

Cashed in a out 17m of discoveries and about ten new discoveries. Not a single ELW though.

Is the galaxy different as you get far from the bubble?

Back in the bubble if anyone wants wing or crew action.

For multi crew bear in mind you don't have to be present in the same system to take a seat on someone's ship, it works remotely which is rather appropriate currently.

@Mikkel I was just going to post the location, as you're a miner you should have loads of raw mats for synthesis. 20 mins though, I've had seek and return missions take less time than that!

Fancied some action after being out in the cold for so long. Went to a RES, looked for targets, pressed the wrong button and shot a cop. Fortunately the Krait has enough speed to boost away, lost shields but no hull.

How do I clear my bounty though? Went to the nearest station and had nothing to clear at the authority contact. Don't want to go back to the RES, I'll get shot again.

How do I clear my bounty though?

I think you need an interstellar factor; you know, the guys who’ll cash any bounty but take a 25% cut.

Could also be that you need to wait for your ‘notoriety’ to fade.

Yeah, the factors will only do it when you have no notoriety. Look for anarchy or low security systems.

Lol!

Just been reading about the game - there's the fleet carrier update due soon but I didn't realise this was only filler, and there's an actual paid for expansion coming early 2021 along the lines of Horizons. Seems likely that it'll include space legs and base building.

I know! I’m trying not to get all excited about this just in case it disappoints, but they’ve been working on it for years, and apparently the reason there’s no community goals or active Galnet is because all the devs have been allocated to working on the big update. Fleet Carriers is just a small change in comparison (which I’m not overly excited about, it’s aimed at people with a lot more time to game than I have). I am looking forward to FCs being introduced and settling in though, because Frontier have said that they will then start releasing info and teasers about the ‘New Era’ update.

Talking of ‘time to game’ I’m afraid I can’t join you tonight as I’m on nights 😫. Next time hopefully; o7 CMDRs!

You just press PS button and do it from there. It doesn't matter if you are in space in the game - unless you are being shot at or flying into the sun, it'll be fine. JKust like switchign to another window on a PC.

It works with PS network friends not specific Elite friends.

Ps I'm at a low intensity RES at Natis 2 looking for a fight.

Mikkel, I'm on PC, currently bumming about the Deciat system gathering dross for Felicity.

Turns out shooting through the mailbox in the Cobra is really easy, I did it at around 230 earlier, glad I never boosted or I think I'd have hit the back wall. I'll bear that in mind.

Think I'm going to go ahead on the Brave Sir Robin loadout, got interdicted twice by an NPC and they landed maybe 2 shots. Unfortunately the police wrecked him before I could play any more.

I take it mods started with one engineer will carry to another? Ie I get G3 thrusters at Felicity and someone else can take them to G5?

Fun evening in CZs last night with Matt. I lost 1% hull all evening, but I ran out of ammo completely!

I think when fighting in a wing you see a small white circle which is your wingman's target..?

That's a nice Corvette, smart paintjob, tactical crimson?

As molgrips said combat in the CZ is definitely more fun when you have friends on your side! There were a few times when I was pleased to see a Krait zoom in to help with a difficult enemy. I had to synthesise ammo three times, twice for the MCs and once for the rails.

I think I picked up around 400K in combat bonds (my first ever) and around 10% to my combat rank.

yea i think its the crimson paintjob.
Just had it out for a quick zoom, will be good for salvaging material.
I melted a couple of kraits then had all my beams do NOTHING at all to a Vulture in quite a long time of constant on target firing, very odd lol

That confused me, until I realised you meant 'creating materials to salvage'!

Vulture's are interesting. NPCs are often strongly sheilded but with wafer thin hulls. The human builds seem to tend towards strong hulls, with a fast recharge using bi-weaves.

V8ninety, if you let me know what time, I will probably be available on one of those days.

Dammit I should have done this.

Been engineering this afternoon, Krait now has G5 mods on both MCs and corrosive ammo. Now I just need to get the lasers upgraded - have to find an engineer that does them and I'm not going all the way to Colonia.

I melted a couple of kraits then had all my beams do NOTHING at all to a Vulture in quite a long time of constant on target firing, very odd lol

Beam lasers are high thermal damage and low kinetic damage. So they are brilliant on shields but not on hulls. I have two fire groups set up on the Krait - one for shield stripping which is a beam and a burst, and another for hulls which is burst and MC.

I'll be up for a wing on Weds or Thurs. Ping me on PSN I have the message app on my phone (I recommend this to anyone looking to contact or be contacted re games!)

so far this corvette is a massive letdown.
I cant get through the shields of anything now.
Just been up against an Alliance Challenger and he was melting my shield why i took ages to get through his, and when his shield was down i did hardly any damage with my dual Huge multicanons.
this is a ship that i can normally rip through i no time with my Mamba.

2 Huge Multi canons gimballed. 2 medium beam lasers + 2 small beams turreted and just swapped the Large MC for a Large gimballed beam, so will see if that helps.

Too many beams. They do little damage to hulls, they strip shields.

Have 2 medium beams gimballed, bind these to the same button. Then two(?) large MCs gimballed and two huge burst lasers on another button. Fire the beams to strip shields and once you hear the 'target shields down' message switch to the beams and MCs.

You can use fire 1 for the beams and fire 2 for the others, however I prefer to keep chaff on fire 2 so I have the different combinations set to fire 1 in different fire groups.

I've only got large and medium MCs on the Krait and it killed a chieftain last night although that took a while. But the shields melt under my beams which are only 1 small and 1 medium.

this is pointless 2 huge multi canons and i cant do damage, there is no point in this ship what so ever. as it seems you only get NPCs with massively engineered shields and hull tanks.
Emptied 2 clips from 2 huge MC into this sitting still Chieftain with no shields and he lost something like 2% hull.
Will have to try get it engineered and see what happens then but as it is with no engineered i deals less damage than any ships i have tried so far lol

Tell me it's ace, stop this messing around and tell me it's ace!

The Alliance ships can be tanky, Molgrips and I were blasting this one last night with power gone (it was war don't think badly of us! plus mats). I was using twin rails and only taking 5% a pop.

Frags will give higher total damage and cannons penetrate better, but a huge PA might be a sweet spot.

think it is good, beginning to think its just me doing something wrong.
I just killed a cobra huray lol took a while as he kept running away.

But it is damn cool when you can fire a load of beam lasers non stop and not run out of power, only having to stop if you get to hot.

just took out a Corvette in a big conflict zone brawl to then find the others on my side had all died and i was alone with 5 ships, had to run so did not even get to see what salvage it might have dropped.

And it seems as long as i dont use my MC at same time as the beams i can fire them for ages without getting heat problem, this ship will be cool when i get the hang out things.

It does seem to take a while to kill ships in general. I have a medium and large MC on the Krait, both overcharged G4 and corrosive mod, and some ships still seem to take an age to dispatch. But sometimes not.

Although in a RES I found a Deadly guy in a Sidewinder - that didn't take long *at all* heheh 🙂

I'm having the same dilemma with my Chieftain, I would like to use something different than the lasers, MC stock build, but the other choices seem underwhelming. Frags and cannons may be good, but they don't seem to do anything!

@Molgrips you were asking about who won the war from the other night.....the side we fought on Li Chotep (Federation).
