It's been struggling for over a year now.

Bank has taken control as it knew it would never get its loan back and the holding company has been liquidated

Probably puts them in a better financial position and the shops are continuing to trade
They have also taken up space in some WH Smiths to get a more central position in some cities, Manchester I believe is the first of these.

Interesting, I was in Carlisle last weekend and the shop only had pictures of cameras in the window, I thought either:

Carlisle is a bit of a rough town or the Manager had an interesting sense of irony.

explains why they have been offering kit just recently at stupidly cheap prices

Maybe if they were a bit more helpful...

Shame though as if I buy a expensive item such as a camera, it is nice to buy it from a shop so you can berate them if it breaks. Unfortunately, they employ the same quality staff as PC world and their shops need a makeover.

it's a shame. There used to be a really good one in Glasgow near Central Station many years ago, long gone now

I thought it looked empty when I went into my local a week or two back - assumed it was the effect of the sales.....

Maybe if you came to my store 😉

Anyhow the store i work at is still fully stocked but there generally was a stock shortage due to sales over winter being good.

However it would be nice if employees were told what is happening with the company.

as a lil subnote the current kessops stores are all owned by Jessops Group Limited and not Jessops plc who are facing liquidation.

The Livingston store seemed to have plenty of cameras at the weekend.

I know they had a problem with panasonic, the fella I talked to told me that he didn't think they'd be stocking any for the foreseeable future

Kin ell. Not another one of the nice shops? I liked Borders, bit lacking in depth of books but overall nice atmos/mags.

From the news item:

Snap Equity now owns Jessops Group, which contains all the company's assets including its shops and stock.
It is the firm's old parent company, Jessops plc, which is now set to be wound up.

So... old news really. Snap Equity bought Jessops, has kept the shops and wound up the empty shell that was left.

Repeat transmission

They haven't gone bust, just the holding company that has been liquidated

Same as Marmoset said, i popped in to see if they had any bags in the sales and thought it looked a bit 'understocked'
I dont suppose new camera gear is high on the list of priorities to a lot of people at the moment.
It will be sad to see another empty shop on the high street.

I best get in and spend the vouchers I've had sitting here for a couple of years!

Hmmm, never really worked out the point of jessops. Gear usually over RRP with less chance of a successful outcome if it goes wrong than if you bought online...

When i got my Nikon D80 with 18-135 kit lens, Jessops were the cheapest by a long shot (short of buying from China off eBay and ending up with a Nokin).

I reserved it online to be picked up from my local store and got a text about 30 mins later saying it was ready to be picked up. I had great service overall, but will agree that sometimes you ask a question and get a blank look back but that's the same in most 'tech' shops, I find.

For Xmas I bought some binoculars from Jessops - Nikons reduced from £100 to £50, so again - can't really grumble.
Speaking with the bloke at the time about wide angle lenses and the guy basically said they can get hold of whatever lenses I wanted to try & I can have a play with them on my camera body before deciding. Try doing that with Warehouse Express.
