Living in Ludlow, Shropshire. Running a business from home, using the internet a lot. Considering switching from BT Business to Virgin or PlusNet to get better phone/broadband package deal, cheaper.

Currently have reliably smooth downloading of pages with BT Business. Anyone any opinions on Virgin, PlusNet or others?

thanks.

I use Virgin's "large" domestic BB service for my home-based business (web media).

Has been almost entirely reliable for a year, dropped occasionally for 10 mins at a time a couple of months ago.

Good job it works though, as it's very difficult to contact anybody there.

I'm in Herts.

will you be saving quite a bit? If not, then I'd seriously question the risk.

I also don't think you can fairly compare the network performance of one ISP to another by generalising across the country - there are way too many variables on local exchanges etc...

We use Sky (plusnet rebranded afik).. Been great. Although, i've just 'unlocked' the sky F@st wireless router and replaced it with a freebie AoHell Speedtouch wireless router and the download speeds have improved by 10% (speedtest.net).

Bear in mind though, BT are to start rolling out their Fibre To The Cabinet network upgrades next year and will be offering much higher speeds than currently available.

Cable here, we take telly and phone too.

Their customer service is pretty dire, did I mention that?
