And it's worth remembering that it was the good old British sense of humour which kept us going in our darkest hour. When we stood alone, Jerry thought they could break our morale with their merciless blitzkrieg bombing, but they hadn't the reckoned on the world famous British humour which stepped in and saved the day.

As they tried to throw everything at us from the skies above, we were in our shelters singing and laughing, at the sausage-munching square-heads expense. They never stood a chance.

Of course if Adolf Hitler hadn't just looked like a clown, and had in fact a bit of a routine and a few gags, then perhaps they wouldn't have lost the war quite so miserably.

But hey, I guess it's just in the genes ......
