Probably the only one I can think of is we don't have any astronauterists on STW?

Oh and before we go there, I bet we have a few current/ ex gigalos.😉

Antoine rose able to name, with some certainty, a profession too niche even for STW?

Id put money on someone playing a small role in a film/series at some point and someone perhaps having a brush with musical fame I reckon?

I might have imagined it but I'm sure that Mike Edwards, formerly of Jesus Jones, has been on here.

I would take massive pinch of salt that anyone on here were working in a profession worth noting.

Jesus Jones still exist, they're playing in London next month and Mike is definitely still part of it. I saw them at Hebden Bridge trades club a few years ago.

Claim to fame - I used to race with Mike Edwards, in fact he had the same bike as me for a while!

Professional cyclist as they are out riding their bike?

I sent Cav a link to a thread in here once and I know he read it although to my lasting regret, he never actually created an account and replied to it.

I wrote a screenplay that was made* into a Movie Short once. It featured me as a driver and a genuine British Lord too.

Chicken Trainer ? I did that thing when you draw a line in front of a chicken and it stayed still staring at it hypnotised. I will try to find a link to show someone doing it as it is hard to explain.

Do those that count while I get busy building a rocket to become an astronaut?

*A student used it for a university project. For some reason the major studios missed it.

The number of times you can Google even quite obscure topics and find a STW thread on the front page of the results is quite incredible. Everything has been discussed on here. There certainly a few ex-military; 2 or 3 professional pilots; plenty of very knowledgeable people in all manner of fields posting on here.

I saw you had posted and instantly thought you were in one of those cautionary government adverts the government used to put on late at night about not playing with kites near electricity pylons etc.😉

You do know all your search results are tailored. Therefore an STW user will be served STW webpages as a search result, whereas a Mumsnet user will be commenting how often Mumsnet appears in search results for obscure topics.

Thanks I’m quite pleased with my professional endeavours, and happy to post here too. Recently I’ve even been riding bikes too - ok not off road of late.

And I don’t think I’ve seen a Chicken Sexer. Maybe I missed them? There was a shortage a few years ago.

Another good one. 👍

Also, it reminded me of that bloke attempting to set some record years back, riding an MTB down Mount Fuji... until the front end of the bike suffered a catastrophic failure.

RN Submarine skipper??

My dad (still at 82) works for the BBC. Has Been a program director/producer for local BBC as long as I can remember. My, and my sister's, claim to fame - whenever Pebble Mill needed children for features on, e.g., garden toys, clothes, pushchairs etc. we'd be the children, or at least some of them! Aged 16 I also got absolutely p1ssed in the BBC Newcastle bar with Mike Neville...my dad was not impressed. 😂

Not a Taxidermist but have skinned loads of beasts of various types

Not an actor or a rock star, but did have a part in a Robert Plant videos back in the 80's

Not a horse whisperer but have broken a couple of horses in from non-ridden to rideable

Not a chicken trainer but I can fool them into falling asleep whenever I want (good party trick if you have a chicken to play with!)

Other wierd jobs I do.

Often found giving a quick Back, Sack, and Crack trim to my ram lambs.

I have tried my hand at artificial insemination and got my favourite cow up the duff.

There are definitely several geologists on here.

I know a volcanologist (a prof no less) who rides MTBs in N. Wales. Not sure if he’s on here though.

Doesn’t a vulcanologist study rubber? In which case, this place is full of tyre pedants.

Vulcanologist

Son2 is a volcanologist. Studying for a PhD, and off to the Galápagos Islands today. His masters was up a volcano collecting samples just before the village was destroyed by pyroclastic flow. he rides black runs with very little practice! What’s risk?

I'm a geologist. But soft rock structures rather than igneous stuff. There was once a time that if you wanted to drill for oil in NE Tunisia I was the man to tell you where. But that was in a former life so don't ask me now. Funnily enough I read a couple of 30 year old scientific papers I wrote the other day. I didn't understand a word of them. Funny how the human mind works.
