We will be in touch
Probably the only one I can think of is we don't have any astronauterists on STW?
Oh and before we go there, I bet we have a few current/ ex gigalos.😉
Antoine rose able to name, with some certainty, a profession too niche even for STW?
Chicken Trainer ?
Astronaut was going to be my answer. Any film actors or rock stars in?

Id put money on someone playing a small role in a film/series at some point and someone perhaps having a brush with musical fame I reckon?
F1 driver?
I had a cameo in stay lucky when I was 10 years old
Filmed in sowerby bridge with Dennis waterman -really nice bloke BTW
But no one has ever asked for my autograph so I guess it doesn't count
I would take massive pinch of salt that anyone on here were working in a profession worth noting.
The ones who always have time to post. 🤔

Have to say I don't agree with that, the forum has astounded me time and time again on the bredth of knowledge/ professions people have on here.
I might have imagined it but I’m sure that Mike Edwards, formerly of Jesus Jones, has been on here.
Jesus Jones still exist, they're playing in London next month and Mike is definitely still part of it. I saw them at Hebden Bridge trades club a few years ago.
Claim to fame - I used to race with Mike Edwards, in fact he had the same bike as me for a while!
Professional cyclist as they are out riding their bike?
I sent Cav a link to a thread in here once and I know he read it although to my lasting regret, he never actually created an account and replied to it.
I wrote a screenplay that was made* into a Movie Short once. It featured me as a driver and a genuine British Lord too.
Chicken Trainer ? I did that thing when you draw a line in front of a chicken and it stayed still staring at it hypnotised. I will try to find a link to show someone doing it as it is hard to explain.
Do those that count while I get busy building a rocket to become an astronaut?
*A student used it for a university project. For some reason the major studios missed it.

That's good to hear, had no idea they were stil going TBH. Must have been early '90s when I last saw them.

+1
The number of times you can Google even quite obscure topics and find a STW thread on the front page of the results is quite incredible. Everything has been discussed on here. There certainly a few ex-military; 2 or 3 professional pilots; plenty of very knowledgeable people in all manner of fields posting on here.

I saw you had posted and instantly thought you were in one of those cautionary government adverts the government used to put on late at night about not playing with kites near electricity pylons etc.😉
^^ Omg, that chicken vid is great! Watch it till the end guys.😆
I overtook cav at the Garmin ride out sportage once, does that count for anything?
actually I don’t think it was a Garmin ride, it was one of the spin series up north somewhere

You do know all your search results are tailored. Therefore an STW user will be served STW webpages as a search result, whereas a Mumsnet user will be commenting how often Mumsnet appears in search results for obscure topics.
,^^ True but for a pretty niche forum the number of topics discussed is still impressive.
songs of praise ?
A friend who never used this place said STW was always coming up in searches
Oh and before we go there, I bet we have a few current/ ex gigalos
There used to be a ronjeremy
Do I remember correctly that Guy Martin has a login, but never posts?
I might have imagined it but I’m sure that Mike Edwards, formerly of Jesus Jones, has been on here
I thought they were still going?
I could say, but choose not to. It's better to take the piss out of those who think they know stuff, but don't really.
Speshly those who can formulate.
Crocodile wrangler.
Horse whisperer.
Snake catcher.
Jockey.
Vicar?
Imma assume that the person that liked my post is Guy.

Taxidermist?
Hmmm... That's a good one.
Speaking of snake catchers.. I'm actually pretty good at that...
I'm no Steve Irwin, but I can read the body language of snakes pretty well.
serial killer ?
some amazing people on here.
when i was ill a few years ago, i got a PM from a consultant cardiologist. who still posts now and again.

serial killer ?
Possible but much building advice given on patios over the years...
F1 driver?
Probably not, but some who think they should be.
I would take massive pinch of salt that anyone on here were working in a profession worth noting.
Thanks I’m quite pleased with my professional endeavours, and happy to post here too. Recently I’ve even been riding bikes too - ok not off road of late.
And I don’t think I’ve seen a Chicken Sexer. Maybe I missed them? There was a shortage a few years ago.
I don't think I got any actual dieticians on my thread about cooking oils the other day, or at least no-one admitted to it. Got some good advice nevertheless.

Plenty of us are very grateful for what I think/recall you've been up to professionally over the last few years. 🙂

There was someone who thought they were at least as good as one…

I’ll second that!

Vulcanologist. There’s not much wifi near a volcano and bikes won’t outrun pyroclastic flow.
Another good one. 👍
Also, it reminded me of that bloke attempting to set some record years back, riding an MTB down Mount Fuji... until the front end of the bike suffered a catastrophic failure.

Snake catcher

I’ve caught snakes before.
F1 Driver
I’d be surprised if Mark Webber hasn’t browsed this place before.
I have a pretty niche job, I’m a viticulturist, be surprised if there’s another on here.
MP
There's an MSP with an account on here.
Is there anyone who works in IT?
RN Submarine skipper??
My dad (still at 82) works for the BBC. Has Been a program director/producer for local BBC as long as I can remember. My, and my sister's, claim to fame - whenever Pebble Mill needed children for features on, e.g., garden toys, clothes, pushchairs etc. we'd be the children, or at least some of them! Aged 16 I also got absolutely p1ssed in the BBC Newcastle bar with Mike Neville...my dad was not impressed. 😂
I know there’s at least one spy on here.
Ah bugger.
Underwater wood welder?
Dolphin trainer?
Any horse willy washers here? (Not willy wavers, willy washers.)
It's a thing apparently, presumably also a fair chance of getting kicked in the process!
Pro chess player? Professional go player. Sumo wrestler. Geisha. Noh actor.
Anything there's only a handful of in the English-speaking world, basically.
kicked in the process
sounds painful
(not really a good enough joke to post twice but I'm checking out the disappearance phenomenon)
If there is a taxidermist on here then we really are stuffed.
Sumo wrestler.
that position is full.
Not a Taxidermist but have skinned loads of beasts of various types
Not an actor or a rock star, but did have a part in a Robert Plant videos back in the 80's
Not a horse whisperer but have broken a couple of horses in from non-ridden to rideable
Not a chicken trainer but I can fool them into falling asleep whenever I want (good party trick if you have a chicken to play with!)
Other wierd jobs I do.
Often found giving a quick Back, Sack, and Crack trim to my ram lambs.
I have tried my hand at artificial insemination and got my favourite cow up the duff.
Whoever they are, and whatever they do, to whatever level of international recognition - an argumentative regular poster will appear on the thread within just a few posts to explain to them just how incorrect they are!

Nailed it.
Serial killer isn’t a profession so we don’t need one of those.
There must loads of geologists in here. Some of them must do volcanoes

No they won’t.
There are definitely several geologists on here.
I know a volcanologist (a prof no less) who rides MTBs in N. Wales. Not sure if he’s on here though.
Doesn’t a vulcanologist study rubber? In which case, this place is full of tyre pedants.

I disagree, they MIGHT!
Vulcanologist
Son2 is a volcanologist. Studying for a PhD, and off to the Galápagos Islands today. His masters was up a volcano collecting samples just before the village was destroyed by pyroclastic flow. he rides black runs with very little practice! What’s risk?
I'm a geologist. But soft rock structures rather than igneous stuff. There was once a time that if you wanted to drill for oil in NE Tunisia I was the man to tell you where. But that was in a former life so don't ask me now. Funnily enough I read a couple of 30 year old scientific papers I wrote the other day. I didn't understand a word of them. Funny how the human mind works.

Ooops, true. Explodingmountainologist is better though (buys a dictionary).

That's pretty darn cool. Edit: I kinda imagine Galapagos in Ray Harryhausen terms.
I’m sure we have no Tory MPs on here. And probably no MPs at all.
Do I remember correctly that Guy Martin has a login, but never posts?
Probably looked in once and felt this place was too full of nutcases.
I’m sure we have no Tory MPs on here. And probably no MPs at all.
Because they're all so busy making the world a better place.
F1 driver?
Saw Mark Webber at Mountain mayhem back in the day.
There's a cycling glamour model on Twitter. Followed her for the cycling pics and she DM'd me saying that for a small fee she'd send me some bum sex photos!
Followed her for the cycling pics
Oh, p-leeeze...
😉
Because they’re all so busy making the world a better place.
I won't embarrass them but one or two genuinely are, by seeking election or by other means.👍
