Blimey! Very generous of Trump to spend that much of other nations money. Wonder how much the Israelis will chip in?

Will we be hearing soon that Starmer has agreed for the UK to contribute to the 300 billion?

USA & Israel dropped the bombs and broke Iran so it's them alone who should be paying to fix it.

But ..

Is this just noise aimed at setting the scene for further negotiations? And what is in place is just an MoU?

* I'm not glued to watching this, so that's an honest question not a statement pretending to be a question.

Reuters article on the $300b

The new fund is a private investment vehicle, not a reconstruction or reparations programme and will not include any government money or grants, the source said, adding that companies based in the U.S., the Gulf Arab states, Asia, South America and Africa have agreed to commit financing.

Feels like there's smoke and mirrors being set up

The Treaty was signed in Versailles.

It wasn't too many years before the bad deal led to a rematch

'Captain America' Pete Hegseth has just said that the US is going to review its relationship with NATO after their failure to support them over Iran. That weapons-grade dimwit, just like his boss, has still completely failed to grasp the concept of a 'defensive' alliance.

You want to go launching unprovoked wars without consultation with your allies, then you're on your own.

There was one of the actual, proper negotiators who brokered the previous Iran agreement for Obama on channel 4 news last night, pointing out the utter stupidity of this whole farcical adventure. Not that he needed to. He made no attempt to disguise his contempt for these idiots

Greenland have now asked America to invade, so that they can negotiate a similar surrender to that which Iran have been forced to sign.

An excellent breakdown of just how bad Trumps Iran deal is (and its likely to get worse! as negotiations drag out)

whats mad is that many of his supporters will just igonre how much of a catastrophe the whole thing has been

I can also see Israel deliberately trying to sabotage this deal because it is a huge win for Iran and they will have a fortune to re-arm their proxies

Also bodes ill for Ukraine as Iran can send more drones to Russia

I wonder:

A) how much of the $300bn will actually be paid. A very Trump like thing to not pay...

B) if they pay any, how much of it will end up in Russia...

It's small change compared with what the war has been costing. A german TV programme ran through the numbers earlier today in terms of cash, resources and influence. They showed this:

Each patriot fired costs $1.4 million ish IIRC and the drone it downs a few thousand. Iran can produce 2-300 missiles a month and many more drones even after the degradation of its factories - the stock of Iranian missiles has been largely unaffected by the strikes because they are so dispersed. The conclusion was that Trump didn't have enough cash to win. Peace and rebuilding will be cheap compared to continuing the conflict or a stale mate with the straits closed.

I'm watching Macron on France 2 at present, he's deserately trying to be up beat about what's been achieved but in doing that demostating just how much damage has been done and how impotent Trump is. The world's most powerful military has just been shown that its weapons and tactics are not cost effective..

Err, the other way round, 300bn is 9 times what they've spent so far.

Sorry I should have given all the numbers in the German documentary with included the economic cost due to oil and gas shortage induced inflation, loss of trade, impact on economic growth - several trillion, I can't remember the exact numbers just the zeros. The use of strategic oil and gas reserves has limited the impact so far but if the straits aren't open soon you can add another zero.

If you believe the WH figure on the cost of the Iran war then I've got several cans of dark blue pool paint to sell you. It's the best paint that anyone's ever seen and samples are available on the water's surface
