MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
just downloaded the iplayer channel for the wii and its looking pretty good.
watching it on my 37" lcd sure beats the laptop!
Oooh, they have a proper channel now?
It used to just work in Opera (though you had to piss about with the zoom to make it fit).
Must dust off the Wii.
This is Brilliant! Do you know if there is a way to download the files rather than just streaming them? Not that it seems to matter to be honest.
My son's been trying to get it to work on our Wii for a couple of days - it keeps sayign insufficient bandwidth depite the fact that the pc next to it is palying stuff through iplayer fine.

...maybe why...
Sorry for being thick but how do you download it? My son's gone to bed or I'd get him to do it!

Go into the Shopping Channel?

its a proper channel and is much better quality than using the opera browser to access iplayer ( full screen as well so no noeed to zoom)
the colours seem a bit faded compared to the tv through my sky box but hey its iplayer on my tv for nowt!
to install it just fire up the wii and go to the wii shop channel and download it, its easily done and takes a few minutes.
Thanks, sorted.

What cables are you using?
The Composite cable that comes with the Wii is apparently pretty rubbish.
If you replace it with a Component cable or an HDMI link then you supposedly get better colours (plus you can activate the 480p mode - if your telly supports it).
(See comparison here: http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6162297/p-2.html )
im using some component cables that i got off ebay, probably paid a tenner for them or something.
I'll have to check what the colours are like in something like Mario Galaxy to see if its the cables causing the colours to look faded.
can you get 40d on the Wii? can't seem to get it to work on the PS3.
Cheers chaps, the wife uses iplayer a fair bit on her laptop as she is often too tired to watch stuff in the evening*.
The wii on our TV will be much easier for her (already have the component cables set up)
* she has secondary progressive MS before any of you tell her to WTFU
Another option is to connect the laptop to the TV with a VGA-to-S-Video (or similar) adapter. Then it should appear as a secondary display for the laptop.
Handy of you want to watch previously downloaded stuff rather than relying on the streaming version (which can get ropey if your broadband connection isn't very fast).
