So I'm getting a new company car which comes with integrated bluetooth but no auxiliary input for my iPhone.
Anyone have experience of an app that will allow me to play music from my iPhone over the car stereo via the blue tooth connection?
depends on the car, but had a VW tiguan (sp) on hire a bit ago, and the car controlled the iphone4's ipod stuff automatically
Depends if there's BT audio support in the car I imagine?
What car?
you sure it has no Aux in? I would be surprised if it doesn't seeing as it has bluetooth
It depends on the car having the right sort of Bluetooth - you want to see the letters A2DP printed somewhere in the manual...
If so, pair the phone and car and then, when you use the normal iPod app, you will notice that you can choose where the music comes from; the iPhone speaker or the car's speaker.

It's a Volvo v50 es with the basic car stereo (whatever is fitted)
The fleet managers insist it's fitted with an aftermarket Bluetooth kit which used up the aux input
So the big unknown is the BT kit and what it can cope with
I get a lot of Ford cars, and the way it works with them (probably similar with Volvo) is pair your phone with the car, select audio input as bluetooth on the car stereo, then just press play music from your phone as if you were listening to it on headphones.
What Allthegear said. A2DP is the profile used to stream stereo audio, it needs to be supported at both ends (dunno about the iPhone but I'd be shocked if it didn't).
My 58 plate Mondeo has 'advanced bluetooth' built-in, but it didn't get A2DP until a later model so whilst it's all very slick I need to cable it up to the Aux jack to play music from the phone.
Checked out the BT unit, looks like it has a2dp.
All good 🙂
