OK, I'm a huge nerd so I'm looking forward to this, but the trailer they've been showing on UK TV does make it look pretty rotten... Still, hoping to be proved wrong.

Are the books any good? ... If so, are the prequels worth reading 1st? (as they were published after the main series started)

the books are excellent, cant recomend them enough

the prequels are only novellas and so far dont tie in with the other stuff

the only problem is book 5 is out soon books 6 & 7 are still to be written!!!
