My iPhone 3G has now died and am looking for a replacement. Would like to take old Sims card across with me - heard you can cut down for the iPhone 4 but not sure about the iPhone 5. Also looking to possibly tether with an iPad - is it possible?
Any advice would be great plus how much I should expect to pay for a good condition second hand.
Cheers.

Tethering depends on your carrier but both are capable.

The Sim card can be cut down for the 4 or 5 as well with different cutters.

I would go 5 for no other reason than it's already a model behind so may as well go as modern as you can. Plus prices will be low at the moment as there is a lot of them about with the 5S upgrades happening.

Try popping into your network's shop and asking for a replacement Sim.
I did with Vodaphone and they just gave me a new smaller Sim for the 4 and transferred my account over for nothing.
Worth trying before chopping your old Sim down.

Agree with all of the above.

Just upgraded my phone from 4 to 5s (to get improved mapping if I believe the marketing hype) and the missus went from a 4 to a 5. No regrets.

You can keep your old number and transfer all if your data if you ask nicely.

Not a real phone geek but have to have an iphone for work. I found the 4 quite unreliable, moving to the 5 made a big difference with all round performance really.
Hope that helps

The 4 is long in the tooth and gets slower with each app update.
4s or 5 and cut the sim.

Cutting the SIM is easy. Even I could do it.

Have a 5 but prefer the 4s as a phone, fits my girly hands better.
