I've got a ford c-max and was looking at getting an interior bike rack but can't find anywhere to tell me whether they're compatible with through axles (and not just QR). Anyone know?

No idea if it only does QR forks. But, google 'hurricane fork up'.

I've got the rack system in my SMax and they are not compatible with through axels, well not the Thule ones that you get for the racking system - but you can get other attachments rather than the Thule ones that Ford specify. The kit comes as separate rails and the parts that slide into the rails that you attach your bike to, so you don't have to buy those items. However I use Hurricane Fork Up's.

The system works great but I find i only use it if I want the security aspect of it - i.e. if i'm going on a bike ride straight from work and have the bike in the car all day in the car park. I use roof bars and Thule 591's for convenience most of the time.

I use a fork up with a qr bracket for my 15mm through axle bikes.
The qr bracket is screwed to a short length of scaffold board strapped down in my car.

It works a blinder, the only pic I have is with it in the background here.

The blue bit is the fork up.

Chip - how do you strap the board down in the car? Sounds like a good idea

We've built a pair into the bed frame if the camper so 2 road bikes can fit inside. Can't get the mountain bikes in due to axles. That qr15 converter looks interesting.

There just happen to be some conveniently placed eyelets in the back which i use with some cheap ratchet straps.
There is also a large one in the centre I use to chain the bike too, I would not leave it unattended otherwise.

The fork up is very good, the bottom has QR drop outs to fit to the bracket and the top is like 15 mm wheel hubs and you secure the bike using your through axle.
