seemingly "intelligent" people say stupid thick stuff that gets my goat sometimes and I wonder why I think they are so intelligent. I consider myself averagely intelligent and I don't half talk some bollucks sometimes. But I'd put something like Empathy/kindness way up before Intelligence in the virtue scale. Some people think "intelligence" is some sorta pinnacle of achievement.

I'm not sure where I lie in the virtue list:
temperance: ????????? (s?phrosyn?)
prudence: ???????? (phron?sis)
courage: ??????? (andreia)
justice: ?????????? (dikaiosyn?)

What about you and your personal subjective point of view that isn't FACT?

I dunno really just random thoughts typed. I suppose. cos you get really intelligent types that don't care about **** all!

intuition is totally fallible. That's why we have statistical analasis. but on a day to day basis intuition makes the world go round no?

I don't think intelligence implies any degree of morality, some of the more 'evil' people have probably been quite intelligent.

How is intelligence an achievement? It's an innate quality which everyone has to a greater or lesser extent.
You have more of a choice over virtues - they're behaviours not qualities. A cowardly person can show moments of bravery, or a mean person can be kind - it's the real pinnacle of achievement when we transcend our weaknesses and be virtuous like this.

You can't transcend a lack of intelligence. Sorry thickos 🙁

I think you are referring to human egos as the term intelligent is a concept conjured up by we human to become the master of earth.

Intelligent people talk shite because of their egos.

Stupid people talk shite because of their egos too.

A person without strong egos will usually take time to answer or simply let it be.

So to conclude we human are ego testicles ... like those the size of a boar.

We human are maggots that deserve to be exterminated.

Well I'm an idiot and I'm lovely, so proof maybe that utter, utter stupidity is a virtue. 😀

I must be an idiot, for I have no idea what on Earth Chewkw is on about. 😳

The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.

The plead of ignorance is of no defence. 😆

Take away ego and you will not be considered intelligent nor an idiot.

Intelligence like beauty is a quality, not an achievement or a virtue. Unlike beauty it doesn't fade though.

I find the association between intelligence and "virtue" interesting.

Surely, the more intelligent one is, one would conclude that "morality" is an artificial constraint imposed upon us to keep us in line?

whilst i could use my degree and actually have a bash at this I will go for the fact you mostly notice it when it is missing in someone

Only interesting thing is reaction time is always assumed to make you more intelligent - you answer more questions obviously

My favourite test is the BITCH test

The Black Intelligence Test of Cultural Homogeneity, or BITCH-100, is an intelligence test created by Robert Williams in 1972 oriented toward the language, attitudes, and life-styles of African Americans. White students perform more poorly on this test than blacks, suggesting that there are important dissimilarities in the cultural backgrounds of blacks and whites.[1][2] Some argue that these findings indicate that test bias plays a role in producing the gaps in IQ test scores.[3] Similarly to the Williams test, the Chitling Intelligence Test [4] is another example of a culturally biased test that tends to favor African Americans.[5][verification needed]

Intuition comes from a mixture of experience and understanding. It can be very dangerous because people may be very experienced in one area and have a good intuition but then miss apply it when it comes to another area. The real trick is good intuition but knowing the limit of you intuition and hence where it is or is not applicable.

pffffft! Yeah, 'cos statistical analysis gives us the 'truth'!

If all we have are the moments, that is to say if time is the most valuable resource in this finite existence, then how would intelligent beings choose to spend thier time ❓

Internet debate that accomplishes nothing 😯

Intelligence is a commodity that is often frittered away by those that have it in the greatest abundance yet with careful application it can lead to greatness.

pffffft! Yeah, 'cos statistical analysis gives us the 'truth'!

statistical analysis is not about "truth" its about giving you tools to deal with data. "Truth" is the interpretation of the data.

What I mean is that an intelligent person may conclude that all that really matters is their own will and that morality is simply an artificial, man made concept, designed to make it possible for society to actually funtion.

So, the intelligent person could conclude that they should throw off the constraints imposed on their behaviour by "morality" and simply behave as they wish, in order to have what they want from the world.

Ok shooterman, you have just provided a logical explanation why the National Socialist Party thought they were so intelligent that they saw fit to exterminate six million "inferior" people.

morality is simply an artificial, man made concept

If it's a man-made concept it's not artificial........it's natural.

So, the intelligent person could conclude that they should throw off the constraints imposed on their behaviour by "morality" and simply behave as they wish, in order to have what they want from the world.

But if they are intelligent they would realise that to have what they want from the world, they need to conform with the consensus of morality

Don't forget, you can be too thick to understand what a smarter person is saying so you think they're stupid.

A really smart person would understand this.
