I'm currently suffering from someone doing this to me at work. (Although Im not a racist - just too honest for some people - when they say things like win with integrity, be the reason, do the right thing, call out unethical behavior and do the right thing for the customer what they really mean is lie like a mother****er to the customer and make as much money for the man as you can).

Its a totally horrid thing to do to someone. On a daily basis I alternate between shaking fits of rage and tears in the toilet.

Call him out for being a racist by all means but screwing someones career over subtly is pretty uncool.

I suspect that someone becomes a violent racist shit due to their own failings. I doubt making them fail would alter things much.

I've also found racism to be extremely rare in the full on "I hate 'em I do" sense. Even the people who vote BNP often aren't particularly racist, just frustrated and willing to listen to the tabloids.

If I did know any racist people, I'd talk to them about it.

Besides what does it resolve? That person will still hold their view point. Surely trying to get an understanding of why they hold such views, and then perhaps helping them to see the errors of their ways is a better outcome?

Failing that if they have done some thing serious in work, then surely it should be reported through official channels ie HR, and if out side of work inform the Police.

I agree with the "direct comment made in public" route. You don't necessarily have to come across like a yoghurt-weaver - "can you please stop bloody banging on all the time about Muslims? You've made it clear you hate them so why do you go on about it all the time? It's not just offensive, it's boring" or something. (Maybe a bit less wooden). Obviously he is not going to change his mind about anything - but the problem with those pillocks is that they think that everyone who doesn't disagree with them does agree with them.
