Afternoon singletracker's

I'm hopefully starting up a small business over the next few months in the outdoor's industry. We'll be looking at doing various courses starting off with MTB and progressing to gain my qualifications in canoeing with a view to expand.

Our main issues is that we are struggling to come up with a name that doesn't sound tacky/cheesy and doesn't sound to limit us to biking.

do you have any ideas???

any input (sensible) would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Stu

not bad for the first post.....
like it, just not got the paddling qualifications..........yet...... so don't think that putting it in the name might confuse the issue..

will you be tied to a location - see tiler name thread - try and get that in the name.

so maybe;

XXXXXXOutdoorActivities.co.uk

where XXXXXXX is a county, town or area name?

not going to be tied to a location, should be able to operate out of almost anywhere... but mainly be north wales and north west england, but able to venture wherever (hopefully)

just finding a name seems to be holding me back from progressing 🙁

have thought about the lcation name, but not really into that as can do any area, personaly would feel a little pigeon holed...

Your user name would be OK, IMO. 😉

I think there are two schools of thought, or even three!
Something with your location and what you do, but I think this gets confusing if there is a lot of competition
Something like the "paddles & pedals" idea, describing what you do.
Or something completely random, unconnected yet catchy.

Nothing more, sorry, I'll go now.

you need to look at it as a business and how people will find you and decide to use you.

If you start with NorthernAdventures or soemthing you can always buy and park 'Southern'/Eastern etc and then use those if you need to later.

I always thought this was a good name:

http://www.naelimits.co.uk/

so something along those lines would suit?

Well £250 for the name, domain and site ain't bad
(depending upon the quality of the site of course)

I would throw in aquacycle but it's already used so how about
paddles & saddles

doing a serch for famous explorer type quotes (yes its friday afternoon and this is more interesting than work) I found:

“I am prepared to go anywhere, provided it be forward.”
David Livingstone quotes (Scottish missionary and explorer, 1813-1874)

So maybe something like "Outdoormotion" or "Out and about" ?

I also like “It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.”
Edmund Hillary quotes (New Zealander mountain climber and Antarctic Explorer Famous for being first to succesfully climb Mount Everest b.1919)

But cant think of a company from that?
