I went Christmas shopping with a friend and whilst in All Saints I for some reason bought a leather jacket (I have no idea why). I thought not a problem I will just take it back, but I have now found out that they don't do refunds, only store credit or and exchange 🙁

"Impulse"?

Sounds more like "Brut" to me.

A leather jacket you say. Why the regret. It wasn't an expensive one you bought at auction? One recently deceased owner? Ahem.....

Not a leg to stand on i am afraid, if thats thir policy, then thats the end of it, from Trading standards website:

Q. I bought a jacket for my daughter the other day, but when she tried it on she didn't like it. I thought I was entitled to have my money back, but the shop has said no, and will only exchange it or give me a credit note. Are they allowed to do this?

A. Yes. The law only requires a shop to take goods back and refund if they are in breach of contract, in other words if the goods are faulty or incorrectly described. If you have made the wrong choice, then they don't have to do anything, not even offer a credit note or exchange, so what they have offered is more than they have to.

Of course, many shops have very generous policies and allow you to bring back unwanted goods, but crucially, they don't have to. If in doubt, check with the company before you buy, and if necessary get them to write on your receipt if they agree to offer a refund.

If there is nothing wrong with the jacket i.e. you just changed your mind, they don't even have to offer store credit / exchange.

I think we need to see a photo of you in the jacket. Possibly in a new thread entitled "Fashion help please". 8)

I have no idea why I did it
the jacket

I know a few people that might buy some of the vouchers off me, but it's not really the sort of shop I buy stuff from, so I will never spend it all.

Jesus! Looking around the site I'm not surprised you can't find something you'd want to exchange it for.

It seems you can pay an awful lot of money, in that particular shop, to look like an insane, paranoid, squirrel-eating, suvivalist who lives in the woods in Montana 🙂

That is a particularly shocking picture, but yes I got it home, put it on and thought oh **** that looks awful.

Stupid attractive shop assistants telling you how good you look, grrrrrr.

Sabotage! You could start unpicking the stitches although you may then be left with an unwearable jacket (although kind of already is 😉 ). Alternatively ebay - you could probably sell it for more than you bought it.

Depends how long ago you bought it. You are by law entitled to a "cooling off period" where by if you change your mind you can take. its normally 14days but in some cases 7.

If you really want to take it back, i suggest you check with trading standards. "no refund" isn't a valid excuse

I kinda like it, but then I'm won over by the waterproof nature of me Bellstaff SS jacket! 😀

why not get the vouchers then give em away as christmas presents?

You deserve everything you get 😉

On a similar note i used to think shops had to give a refund until i shopped in that cackhole Sports Direct, store credit or GTFO basically.

Isn't that only distance selling?

If you bought something you shouldn't have done, its not the shops fault, they held up their end of the contract.

go in, tell them that you were drunk and therefore should not have been served such a headily intoxicating jacket on top of what you'd already had?

oh and for the record: This seasons look is "charles manson V's The Third Reich"

Does it look bad on you because you're tubby and bandy-legged and balding and shouldn't ever wear gay nazi fetish fancy dress, or does it just look bad because there isn't an attractive young woman saying "you look lovely in that Sir" nearby?

If the latter, I suggest persisting with it, but making sure you are permanently surrounded by attractive young women. 😀

you mean All Saints on Commercial Road, near to Spitalfields, don't you?

you'd fit right in wearing that jacket round there. it's full of cants.

oh, haha. yeah. it's a proper shit jacket.
