Plenty of demand for my services - this time of year / type of weather is where I can make my money.

My family business (Butcher since 1904) in a small ex-fishing town had the busiest week we can remember last week, eclipsed Xmas by far.

The town has changed to being a commuter town for Newcastle, approx 7k people I think, where people have moved to the country from the suburbs. Most people use Tescos/Asda on their way home for their shopping but with the snow and kids off they couldn't get to these supermarkets.

We kept prices as they always were - we could of increased prices and took advantage but maybe never seen them again hopefully these people will realise they can get a better product for similar money right on their doorstep and come back. Damn supermarket rubbish, pre packed and bright red - please all support local traders otherwise our towns will die.

About 5 to 6 times the normal work i.e a weeks work in a day, it's been crazy. Common sense would have reduced it to 2 to 3 times the normal load 🙄

Fairly quiet so far, as January always is, apart from one or two chaps who had so much to drink they got brave enough to give their partners a good kicking.
