I ask this because I was round my mates watching the footie on Sunday and his car was gleaming in the drive. He washes it twice a week normally, or just the once if he's having a busy week.I wash my car about four times a year, who's more normal?

2 or 3 times a year and even then it's only a basic clean. I just wash the headlights every week at this time of year.
It's a mode of transport nothing else.

i bought my first new car 2.5 yrs ago (mostly for my g/friend and new kid) with promises to myself that i'll keep it clean.

i washed it once when we bought it and it was washed when it went for repair...

that's it.

always something better to do, i'm the same with my bikes!

about six times a year on the outside and inside alot less. That said i've had seat covers on since new and try not to spill food and drink inside - make less mess and have less to clear up. Its mainly dry mud / dust in my car off the bikes.

Take mine to the local handwash every 6 weeks or so.
Costs me a fiver, takes 15 mins and looks better than I could do in a full day. Got better things to do.

Outside: never - it washes all the goodness off.
Inside: muck it out when you can't change gear properly.

Once a decade...if it rains-every week.

Bike once a fortnight.

Once a week in summer.

Once a week on average- inside & out, but carting 2 toddlers around ensures the place is covered in wotsits and crumbs fairly rapidly

Depends on how much it has been driven. I drive a dark blue metalllic car and it shows the dirt really badly so I like it to be clean. I guess I average once a fortnight.

My bikes are spotless.

I've washed mine about three times since Dec 2002 when I bought it. A friend washed it when I lent it to her for a couple of weeks about two and half years ago. My bikes are kept nice and clean.

Brought the car in October 2005.

Washed once by my good self.
Once by the girly friend
And once through the car wash.

I wash my bike after every muddy ride. Priority's people, priority's. 😀

Couple of times a year if it's lucky. Usualy after long motorway trips in winter just to shift the salt and blackness. Quick whizz over lights n numberplate when needed. Life's too short!

Went to a carwash as salt was preventing lights from shining. Internally, the mud from the October ride at Swinley is still present.

the outside every 6-7 weeks or so and the inside every other external wash.

Spend a good couple of hours on it when I do inside and out making sure all the leathers clean and the wood's polished.

Chucky (aka Vortex Racing)

I wouldn't be to happy if my misses was crawling on the bonnet of my car!!!

Wash our cars once a month tops - used to be weekly but kids and squeezing rides in are more important.

Sometimes use the carwash as only £1.50 by us and gets the worst off 🙂

Local Polish car wash twice a month.

But - I drive a lot of miles, so keeping the windows and lights clean and the inside decent makes it less stressful.

I like a clean car.

Currently I live in a house with poor facilities to wash it myself. I ain't lazy, and would happily do this each week. It keeps glass and paint free of corrosive dirt, and makes you feel better about how much money you lose on a car just by owning it.

Cleaned the inside of the car before it's MOT last week...shouldn't have bothered though as it failed and is going to be scrapped tomorrow. RIP Kitty 😥

as and when I'm injured and can't ride, it's when most stuff gets fixed

Don't think our works Land Rover has ever been cleaned, others at work keep theirs spotless, whilst ours is well known for an inch or more of mud inside, a pile of kit on the back seat, a canopy load of shite, even found barley growing behind the drivers seat

As for the outside, the documents tell us that it is green

Work van, about twice a year (usually when I can't see out the windows to look at the mirrors, does about 50k miles a year so gets pretty filthy) but clean the inside every couple of months, gets full of pasty crumbs etc.

My car, maybe once every 2 months, in and out, depending on how muddy it gets green laning.

Van and car are cleaned regular, I also have this theiry (Me being a business owner) if a person came to me in a works van/car that was a Tip on the inside aswell as the outside, they will not get the job, what kind of example is that saying to you that they are going to do a good job for you?
There is always time to give the vehicle a clean, Plus it makes you feel better to turn up looking smart and presentable at job.

I only use my car to ferry my MX bike and my mountain bikes around so it get's muddy every time I use it so no point in washing it. Well thats the excuse anyway.

3 times a week for both cars and hoover ever weekend the a quick run round the engine bay with a cloth maybe some GT 85 on the hoses! I have had this routine since i got my first car at 17. My family think its a bit of OCD and to be honest think its a bit of a joke they even call the sponge i use the crown jewels as nobody else get to use it.I also Polish them once a month too 😳

Never - I lend my van to friends from time to time and that is the deal, they have to wash it for me. I clean the mirrors and the front of the headlights tho obviously.

I clean the inside from time to time when it gets proper minging, and sweep the dirt out of the back when it drys.

I am with jd-boy on this tho, commercial vehicles should always look clean. I pass a construction company premises most days on my way to work and the first job of the day is cleaning the vans. Very professional !

About twice. Once around May time to get rid of the winter muck, then again just before the MOT.

But I suffer from the opposite of OCD, dunno what it's called, I suspect laziness, but I'm going to call it Not OCD (NOCD).
Now I've named it, we should form a support group. Sounds like a bit of hassle though, so maybe not.

Nothing wrong with washing your car often. Bro in law loves it, waxes etc etc. When it lends me his car he CRINGES when I return it (cleaned)- my clean is appalling to him.

Whilst we are on it- how often do you wash your hair? Me- once every 6months or less.

My commuter car - when it's really dirty, sometimes plus a bit longer. My fun car, when it looks a bit dirty and it's lost it's watery shine. While it doesn't pray on my mind, it is nice to have a clean shiny car for your own satisfaction, I find. Plus leaving cars dirty means that when you wash it next you damage the paint, and when you use the wipers you scrape the windows. Oh, and leaving salt on your paintwork isn't great for body lifespan. It's just basic common sense really, and looking after your property, but it's not that much fun on a boring car so sometimes gets put out of mind!

Once a year usually, wich was just recently after so much salt and cack had built up. Once cleaned, a neighbour asked me if it was a new car because it had been covered in cack for so long. Pointless story, but she is a MILF so it took me off into fantasies such like that picture above...

Twice a week minimum.
Foam lance, rinse, 2 bucket wash using a lambs wool mit. Polished with Werkstat Carnauba kit at least once a fortnight. Clayed and machine compound/polished as necessary (once, maybe twice a year.)
Inside usually needs done once a month, likewise with the engine bay.
People always mention how well my cars are kept. I find it a very therapeutic and relaxing process and take a bit of pride in having a nice clean car. My uncle has a bodyshop so it'd been installed in me to look after my cars.
FWIW I also clean and polish my bikes after use. I'm a simple beast, I like shiny-shiny 😀
I always buy my cars with a colour I know will polish up well. Looking at a black X5 at the mo, that'll be a LOT of polishing! 😀

New (to me) car has been washed once by the dealer when it was serviced in the 3 years I've owned it.

Old car was never washed as couldn't be sure that it wasn't just the muck holding it together!

I wash my car when it goes in for a service. Which actually means they wash it for me.

Otherwise I wait until I crash it then it gets washed when they respray it 🙁

Once every few years but its a darkish green so dirt doesn't show so much. Had to go off road in the mud once and kept the big mud arc that resulted on either side - quite odd on a Puma in London I suppose.

Probably 8 times a year. Depends on how dirty it is, how bothered I am and if its raining on the weekend. Generally clean the whole lot in and out.

Its metallic grey / silver so rarely looks really dirty, but always comes up nice after a bath.

1st car Once, when trying to sell it. Had it 8 months. Scrapped in the end.
2nd car Once, when trying to sell it. Had it 12 months.
3rd car Twice, can't remember why. Had it 2 1/2 years.
4th car Never, had it a couple of months.
5th car Never, only had it 4 months so far.
Occasional hoover as they all seem to fill with pine needles.
