What kind of taxes? Are there any countries that levy no taxes on anything?

Anyway there are other ways for a country to make money. Sovereign wealth funds and nationalised industries for two.

Shed-loads of oil, as a general rule.

Money laundering, or at least that's the accusation a lot of the time

I was chatting to a family friend at the weekend whose son lives in Dubai He was banging on about his tax free wage, I got the impression that the business he runs pays no tax either, but i might be wrong.

Either:

Resource rich e.g. Saudi

Government owned land chargeing 'rent' e.g. Monaco

Legalised money laundering i.e. there is tax but its very low so companies register there, and pay a fraction of the tax they would elsewhere, thus you collect lots of small ammounts of tax from people who don't cost you anything, e.g. Luxembourg, and to a lesser extent the Channel Islands.

They also rely on the slave labour of thousands of immigrants.

Income tax and corporation tax are not the only taxes. But anyway, don't most of those ME countries run their own nationalised oil industries? No need for taxes there.

Dubai taxes residences, hotels, and other services plus has quite high import duties - they just don't charge personal income tax.

Not a country, but Nevada gets its tax revenues from gambling taxes and sales tax.

As above there are all sorts of income streams for governments - in the UK Income tax is only about 1/6th of the governments income and humans also aren't the only tax paying entity. The are two people in my home, but 4 tax paying entities.

Dubai is hardly thriving as a state either - its infrastucture is totally borked

This pretty picture of a que of trucks as far as the eye can see isn't an advert for Coca Cola - its lorry loads of sewage continually being shipped out of the city because it doesn't have a working sewer. Actually maybe that is an advert of Coca Cola.
