Everytime I click on something that might be an email address Outlook expresss starts up. I don't use it, I don't want it. On this stome age PC it also stops my machine for 5 minutes while it starts. Can't see it in the add/remove programs.

Please help me stop the nasty program before I throw the whole machine out the window.

It's in the same window as add remove programs, but under "add remove windows components".

Not sure if you should remove it though, it's tied in with other Windows stuff.
You can stop it from launching when you click on an address in IE.
Tools>Internet Options> Programs tab. Change the E-mail program box.

click on "set program access and defaults" on the start menu and you will have the option to choose which email program for emails.

Or in Firefox

Tools > Options > Applications
Scroll down to 'mailto:' & change it to what you want

It's completely fine to remove it (I would expect that it only removes the front end and leaves the required gubbins as dll files scattered over the system)
