Government underwrite of all SME loans <£20m. No underwriting of any real estate loans.
Make Project Merlin (the lending to UK business) legally binding on banks, but with the underwrite in place to protect bank capital - dont believe you can have it both ways - require increased lending, but demanding capital rebuilding at the same time.

I would also reinstate the EMA and scrap tuition fees as cuts to education are a very short term policy and not good for the fabric of society.

I think that's pretty much the same as what ernie was recommending (granted he probably didn't include abolishing the top rate 😉 ) 😯 FWIW I agree with both of you - the trouble is it's presumably not politically that great an idea as it squeezes the middle - all those floating voters.
I also agree with making the rich corporations and fat cats pay the tax they're supposed to - what are your thoughts on this, Stoner? Would it really drive business away, or would they actually just suck it up as they need to trade here?

A Parliamentary Question by Jonathan Reynolds revealed that the team recovered £162m from the ultra wealthy people that it deals with. Two years ago, these same individuals were handing over just £25m in tax.

I would penalise people punitively for tax avoidance..yes I know it is legal but it is immoral.
TBH corporate tax for multinationals is not that black and white. Tax treaties on avoiding the double taxtion of profits is "fair and equitable". A lot of the hyperbole confuses what is taxable profits and what is repatriated taxed profits. But what doesnt help is people like David Hartnett "doing deals" behind closed doors. Tax demands should be fully disclosed and the calculations shown. It does nothing for either side of the arguments to have obfuscation. Just as much as [i]hoi polloi[/i] want to feel corporates are being taxed appropriately it's in the corporations' interests to demonstrate how they are doing so, rather than just claim that "they pay all taxes legally required" - they need to justify [i]bona fide[/i] tax planning schemes as being fair and equitable, not just a mechanism to maximise shareholder wealth (which is a LEGAL obligation, not just a selfish imperative).

Non-US resident US citizens don't pay full income taxes, just the federal component - and even then only after the tax-free threshold and after the deduction of taxes already paid in countries with which the US has a double taxation treaty.
Besides, why should people pay income tax in a country where they don't live?
The banks still have to lend on standard credit criteria, but the underwrite should allow their balance sheet capital to go further, and reduce the interest rate payable by the borrower.

Nationalise all the utilities Power, water, transport.
Exit Europe immediately, negotiate trade agreements along the lines of old common market.
Invest in Tide based renewable power source as well as solar, reduce wind.
Stop all welfare based payments, and employ more on all of the above or pay them nothing.
Institute a care for the community programme which also employs folk, there must be availability of employment for all.
Only pay welfare to the genuinely disabled, aged or infirm
Institute a National Pay scale with upper limits beyond which no-one gets paid, thereby reducing 'envy' bring more of a sense of fair play to folks working lives.
Nationalise all left wing cycling sites then ban all their moderators.
Tories and Labour would have you believe that they know exactly what to do to solve things, and that they are different, but in reality there is little to choose between them.

Well it looks like exactly that is going to happen in the US since they couldn't agree anything. We can all see what happens there...
We could also stop trying to 'punch above our weight' on the 'world stage' and not go to war at the drop of a hat. I suspect that [i]might[/i] save a bob or two...
Reduce business rates to zero for all businesses with a T/O of less than £2million. At the same time reduce emloyers NI to zero for businesses with less than 5 employees, then on a sliding scale for 5 - 50 employees.
This would really help small businesses and encourage them to take on new employees.
Scrap a large amount of current planning regulation, especially for small projects which have minimal impact. (two examples, had to egt PP to install roller shutters, would need PP to replace wooden windows with UPVC, this on a non listed building outside of any conservation area. This would both allow small businesses and individuals a chance to grow and develop without planning getting in the way, it would also mean saving as you wouldn't need so many planning officers as they would only need to deal with large schemes.
Increase the income tax threashold to whatever minimum wage for 40hrs per week is (currently £12646). Reduce tax credits, it's your choice if you want kids, you pay! Replace a proportion of benefits, (especially for those on benefits with large families) with food stamps, some of which can only be spent on fruit and veg.

Nice socialist idea. The trouble is there aren't enough people earning more than that to pay for things, no matter how much you squeeze them.
Give the chancellor six months to turn it around without incurring massive job cuts or selling everything to the highest bidder. If it's still rubbish in 12 months time then shoot him and conscript Ed Balls to succeed him and repeat.
After that, hold an election for the post of chancellor.
