Other than damp, cracks, boiler age, roof condition, presence of artex etc what else should we look for on a second viewing of a house before putting in a bit?

What things do you wish you'd checked for?

Also, what's a finger in the air price for getting a joiner (?) to put up a 6ft internal partition wall?

Erm, a decent surveyor, then adjust the offer if there's a massive list?

+1 the surveyor.

Interior decor stuff is all fixable, and is a good bargaining point if it really is shabby.

For the structural stuff, either a surveyor or a reliable builder mate you can trust. And then get a survey done anyway.
