It would appear my hotmail account has got into the wrong hands I was receiving more spam than usual, but when I logged in today I had spam, plus holiday response was on which sent people who emailed me a message about chinese electronics. Also on my emails is an avatar with the same chinese electronics.
A - how do I get rid of the avatar?
B - how do i protect myself from more of the same?

same here... password change fixed it, till the next time Hotmail gets hacked (though this was a first for me)
I had it too, and have continued to use my old password. Can the spammers read my emails, bank details etc? 😯
Are the people it sent emails to safe?
i just changed mine, to be safe i would change it. bit frustrating as i have had that password for coming on 7 years. duntmatter if you really did have bank info on your hotmail i would change all your passwords, luckily i had no passwords on there for them to use. I don't really see the point who buys from those chinese places anyway, hardly amazon are they.
In theory yes, they could log into your account and check your emails. Though in practice I'm sure this is all done by automated bots and the risk isn't too bad (I'd guess? happy to be corrected!)... just change your hotmail password and that'll stop them using your account again at least...
