Anyone make any?

Results with pics?!

Any 'foolproof' recipes?

Cheers

I spent a few years doing homemade wine. Long ago, never again.

All students should try making it : Tastes horrible, get pissed.

If that's not you then I'd definitely not advise it.

Made some "kit" Rioja.

It was alright but lacked a depth of taste.

Ginger beer and nettle ale is the way forward in my book. A bit hot at present but when the temp drops it's safe to play with homebrew again.

Tropical 5 Alive a few years back - do you still get Tropical 5 Alive?
Anyway, 2 litres of pretty much any fruit juice, a bag of sugar and some warm water to fill a gallon demijohn.
Add some started yeast
Let it bubble for a week or so, then rack to another demijohn
let it bubble till it stops
Bottle
Wait a couple of months.
Drink
Vow never to drink again
Repeat

Going back a few years and having been successful with home brew beer I tried making wine. Results were not good and not cheap enough to warrant trying to get better - I could buy drinkable, cheap wine from the offy.

But I reckon if you go foraging in the hedgerows you should get enough fruit to make some decent "non grape" wine if that makes sense ...elderberry, blackberry

Flavoured gin is really easy, and tastes great. You just get some cheap gin, add fruit and same weight of caster sugar. Shake and then leave for a year or so. Strain and enjoy!

Mind you it will taste like very nice fruit juice and you'll end up drinking it by the cup before having to lie down and remember it was full stength gin!

Sloes, raspberries, blackberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants all work well

Home made wine can be good cheap alcohol that tastes fine, after the first glass or two. Just don't expect it to taste like bought grape wine. It gets considerably better the more grapes/grape concentrate or raisins/sultanas you put in it and the longer you leave it before drinking (difficult).
