Or the Amercian audience doesn't get foreign films... They weren't sure about Attack the Block because it wasn't in English (US)
No more than it ever was. I just reckon that it's more of a business now so if something can turn a profit (eg a quick remake of a decent film into one that will suit the US audience better) then it's an opportunity so why not take it?
Same for the various other recent remakes.

i've noticed a lot less movies are being made nowadays but that probably has more to do with the decrease in revenues due to piracy than a lack of ideas
