I've got a spare LK100 power amp that someone is wanting to hear and buy. However my current set up is 'activ' in that i have 3 amps, one driving the treble, bass and active bass. For the person to demo can I run all the speaker outputs from the one amp (non-activ) or just run through a single channel ie. treble? Or will I damage something?
I assume you are talking about Linn kit here?
My understanding is that Linn 'Ackiv' means active crossover (i.e. low level crossover, before the power amp stage).
So each of your 3 amps will only be receiving a portion of the frequency band. If you connect all the speaker terminals to one amp, all the speaker drivers will get the signal from that amp, be it treble, mid or bass.
Depending on if whether the speakers have crossovers inside them (which, if you are using low level crossover prior to the amps (i.e. 'ackiv'), they probably they don't, or the speaker crossovers are bypassed), then you could damage the speakers: If you connect the treble amp, no problem, although you'll only hear the treble of course, but if you connect the mid or bass amps, you might break the tweeter(s).
Ask him to bring a pair of speakers along with him ? I'd be more than happy to; rather than expect someone to reconfigure their existing setup so I could hear a 2nd hand amp.
As above if the crossover is before or in the power amp then no you can't run all 3 drivers with it.

Is that true? I bi amp my speakers from my home cinema amp (to separate terminals on the back of the speakers) but each terminal gets the full range of audio. Is it even possible to bypass whatever filters are in the speaker?
Bi amping is different to active amps - former just has an amp per driver with the crossover by the driver.
Conceived to sell more amps.
An active speaker will probably be part of a system with crossovers before the amps. Or maybe all integrated.
