I have been diagnosed with one of these, about 5cm.

I know the normal problem is acid reflux but this doesn't effect me too much and I have some strong ant-acids.

The problem I have is that it seems to prevent me from getting a good deep breath (when breathing out) - sometimes diaphram / solar plexus is a bit distended which would seem to me to prevent a proper deep breath being effected. This is just normally ****ing annoying but yesterday whilst out the whole thing seemed to develop into some sort of hyperventilating episode which was a bit of a worry.

Been to the GP so many times with this (last 3 years), had endoscopy etc. Anyone else had similar as i'm told by one consultant that hiatus hernias are very common but unless I have stomach acid coming out of my ears there doesn't seem to be anything anyone want to do.

Anyone had a similar problem or can recommend a good specialist as I would happily pay to go private.

Quacks opinion

The history of surgery Is littered with not very successful cures for HH. People rarely have it done these days unless they have oesophageal manometry tests showing significant acid regurg on a decent dose of a drug like omeprazole. There are laparoscopic procedures now.

Youy breathing symptoms don't sound very like HH. Are you sure that it isn't aerophagy and a panic reaction?

But usual T&Cs apply.

ta for that. Don't do too much of the belching thing. Will mention it to the GP. More like bloated stomach restricting diaphram. Do you know any specialist on this tye of thing.
