In 48 hours, the Australian government could approve the world's biggest marine reserve to help preserve spectacular coral reefs and endangered species. But the commercial fishing industry is lobbying to oppose it. We need a flood of support to the public consultation to win.

I've just sent my message in, you can join me here: http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_the_coral_sea_4/?sbc

Okay,

I am generally supportive of this type of thing (pretty hard to really hate on it eh?) but i think sometimes the type of approach Avaaz and similar websites use is less positive and informative than it could be..

So, a little bit more info can be found on: http://www.coralcoe.org.au/news_stories/coralsea2.html
or, officially:
http://www.environment.gov.au/coasts/mpa/coralsea/index.html

which seems to basically cover it, if people want to check it out.

To protect endanger species you shoot the poachers ... as you can't breed endanger species as fas as poachers harvest them.

To save the sea you sank the ships ... using sea mines ...

To protect the fish you sank the trawlers ... at the harbours.

To prevent piracy on high seas you shoot the pirates and feed them to the poor sharks ...

🙄

Load of BS.

All they have to do is stop prawn trawlers strip mining the bottom. Don't need more bureaucrats to turn the reef into a private playground for the eco-elite and tourists.
