Old pc using Vista so would like to go for Windows 7 and the latest Office. Not being used for gaming. Internet and WP only.I have monitor, speakers etc so just the pc.
What should I get and where from? Looking to spend around £500
Many thanks as always

Should I go for something like this?

What spec? It might be fine for web browsing and office. A bit more ram, new HDD and fresh windows install and you'll be good to go.

If it can run vista, it'll run better with windows 7, and as nick said a new HDD/RAM/Both may well revitalise it.

For instance my work laptop is a 2.0Ghz core 2duo from 2007, earlier this year we upgraded all laptops to SSDs and 4gb ram with windows 7, and it's like a new machine.

bog standard Dell + extended warranty.

For 'day to day web browsing' you won't notice the difference between a £300 PC and £2000 PC. Even the bottom end PC's are exceptionally powerful these days.

I found that buying a laptop is cheaper overall and you can
rig up the old screen for a dual screen setup.

You can get a good 15" laptop for about £350.
