Head Gasket has started to go on our Passat Diesel.

The thing is we are taking delivery of a new car in 4 weeks time, and scrapping this one, so we are not liking the idea of spending a wad of cash on getting it repaired.

Any bodges that'll make it last the month?

I've heard that thermal shock can work.

Get the engine hotter than hell, then douse with lots and lots of cold water.

Bikie/engineering types said it worked on transits .......

Mind you araldite (two tube) is bloody amazing as well - it DID seal motorbike crankcases.

Scraprider it's being scrapped so no danger of you buying it. 🙂

just keep it topped up and it'll be fine. keep the heater on full, maybe think about removing the thermostat - both will help keep the engine temperature down to start with, so you'll have to do a lot of idling in traffic or long journeys to get the thing to the point where it starts to pi55 out badly. 4 weeks is no bother.
