I turned on my Russell Hobbs filter machine this morning with no water in the tank. Only realised after a few minutes. Turned it off and let it cool down no it won't heat up. Have I killed it? Do I need to leave it off for a prescribed amount of time?

Please help!!! I need my coffee.

If it doesn't have trip mechanism then the heating element may well be goosed I am afraid.

You can make really quite good coffee with a jug.

Put coffee grounds in jug. Pour just boiled water over it. Wait for a minute or so (adjust time to taste). Stir with cold dessert metal spoon to encourage the grounds to sink to the bottom.

Carefully pour into mug, drink and enjoy.

If you find yourself filtering too many grounds out with your teeth, then work on your stirring and pouring technique.

Don't use boiling water, use not quite boiled water (boiling water scorches the grounds)

Heat the water in the kettle, pour the water into the filter in the machine?
