We have a Yamaha F310 acoustic which needs new strings

My daughter (13) is just starting to learn to play guitar

What strings would be most suitable for her on this guitar?

As she's a new player lighter strings would be better as the string tension will be lower. 10 to 47 gauge are about as light as you'll get for a steel strung acoustic. I'd recommend D'addario EJ15's they are great strings for little £££. You can pick 'em up on ebay for about a fiver.

What he said, but you should also look at Elixier in the purple packets. They are super slippy and easy to play.

yes what they say low tension, decent brand and online

Be aware thinner string are more like cheese wire though so may hurt more

Be aware thicker strings have a lot more tension so will hurt more.

Elixir are particularly good because one set will last forever.

I dont play steel string [classical here] so they may be correct....either way fingers will hurt when you are learning.

No strings will last forever though as they oxidise from sweat if played and air if left]and sound gash...I can send you a set if you like 😉
