Since google changed its policy the other week, I am getting frequent problems. I log out of google, seem to be logged out and later in the session discover I am still logged in / being tracked. Anyone else finding the same?

I am selecting 'log out of all accounts' on the drop down menu. It appears to log me out properly from everything google successfully.

Later in the internet session I find I am still logged in to google , presumably it is still tracking me for advertising purposes. I then have to log out a 2nd time to get clear of it.

Anyone else noticed this?

I log in on different machines and in different locations and the same thing repeats - not every time but pretty frequently - enough for me to have started to wonder if not genuinely logging people out when requested is deliberate.

You´ve probably got an addon that auto-checks your email every X minutes. As soon as you do that you´re logged in in the browser too.

I very much doubt that being logged in or out makes any difference at all to whether Google tracks you or not.

No, no auto mail checkers. I log in, check, log out. My accounts don't feed into any mail forwarder/notifier of any kind.

I do run NoScript and Ghostery as general blockers, but they run all the time so if they were influencing the logging out, would they not prevent proper exit every time instead of frequently?

I expect Graham is right, but I would still like to be able to log out... at least in theory... whenever I try.
