i'm in france (long term) and whenever i open google/google docs etc etc etc its all in french. i'm working here and a lot of my work is based around google docs etc... i REALLY want to have it in english.
how can i 'register' with google that i want to use their services in english?

don't you just use the .co.uk rather than .fr url?
Are you using your own computer or a French one?
If it is a French one, it might have the default language code set in the web browser to French (I know, how very French of them!).
You can change this in IE8 by going to the Tools->Internet Option menu and looking for the Languages button on the General tab. Move the languages around until you have proper English at the top.
If you are using another browser, I'll assume you know what you're doing.

its all going through .com (inc links from email)
gmail is in english, but anything else i access is in french.
own (english) computer, using chrome (downloaded in france)...
