Following on from the other thread of some people thinking Bale's goal was ordinary.

Can't be arsed to find a link but for me Dennis Bergkamps goal(s) against Leicester then Argentina. Carbon copies of each but sublime.

Another person who can't be arsed to look for a link, but look up Johan Cruyff versus Den Haag (1972 I think) - the first touch is sublime!

Right then if we are playing dirty goes to find the hand of god goal 😈

I hate that ****ing goal form the optimism of a penalty to the crushing defeat at the hands of the enemy [ its a great goal to be fair but it still hurts decades later]

Junkyard - I've still got Scotch mates who claim Gazza misshit the shot and the keeper would have had it!

edit: but if we are being gracious, this is pretty good too....

Maradona's goal v England (not the hand of god) is incredible, I struggle to think of one better.

obviously apart from any goal from the mercurial Shola 'The mackem slayer' Ameobi...

Outstanding pace but the keeper should have saved it.

Gigg's goal to win the league for ManU vs Arsenal (as posted above)
Bergkamps against England (Shilton in goal) after a pass over the top from Hullet

This one was a bit special

Not just the skill, but the timing, and how important a goal it was. And cos he did it on my birthday, where we were having a good few beers in a pub full of blues 😀

Henry against the mancs and sp*rs, Pires against Villa, and as much as it pains me to say it the Dutch skunk against Charlton.

That Zola back heel is amazing!

Talking of VP, this was the icing on the cake of an unbelievable season

go on TV Golo.com for hundreds of goals better than Bale, some of them make Rooney's look like something your fat mate attempted to do in the park when you were younger. Granted the majority of them are from minor leagues in South America etc.

Edit - I was behind that goal when RVP scored that volley, even as a Liverpool fan I had genuine goosebumps when he put that in. Unbelievable strike.

From about 4 minutes. Brilliant first touch, sublime second, in a league where most players 'controlled' the ball further than today's players can kick it.

The fact I was there has no bearing, of course.

To be fair, Le Tissier could have a thread all of his own.

^ his video "taking le tiss" is a piece of homespun magic - so bad and so good at the same time!

anyhoo - FIFAs goal of the year for last year - i'm not sure i'd go that far, but it's pretty snazzy

Great? nope. Funny, oh yes. Apparently The Mighty Gers played United off the park this day. Which is why United won 3-1

As an Arsenal fan who's seen a lot of good goals, Dennis Bergkamp Vs Newcastle is by far and away the best goal I've ever seen.

edit and that includes Van Persie's against Blackburn where he destroyed Robbie Savage, and countless others including Henry's against Utd

Some great goals so far. Here's my favourite as I was just to the left of the goal when this one went in.

I think this one takes some beating.... oh, hang on, what's that you say? We're shooting the other way? Oh.

My personal favourite, the touch, the control, the finish & most of all the timing, IIRC this was seconds before the game was about to go to penalties.
