Soak in cold water for 12 hours or more to get rid of the salt

Get some soft drink without sweetener (Coke, Ginger Ale) if you can still get such a thing.
Simmer in a pan covered in above beverage for 90 minutes
Take out and roast in the oven for 20 mins to get a nice brown outside.

When we could get sweetener free ginger ale we used to reduce the simmering liquid to a nice rich stock and save it for use in Chinese-style stir fries.

Nigella’s gammon/ham in coke. Always comes out nice. I pre-soak. Change water and bring to the boil then drain and cook in the coke.

Slow cooker, ham, wee bit of water, onions and peppercorns, 6hrs.

The ham is the star, bit of apple sauce, brilliantly simple.

As above soak or boil in fresh water to get the salt out.
i roast ours basting frequently with orange juice, maple syrup and honey.
Bloody lovely, although I didn't get round to getting one this year so will be a bit of beef instead (not cooked like the ham as I reckon it wouldn't be good)

As above, soak to get salt out but I then slow cook after splitting the flesh open and stuffing with star anaise and coating the whole lot with Dijon mustard and honey.

Felicity on the money as always (including no need to soak nowadays). I’ll be doing this tomorrow.

Aye, soaking is a waste of time and water.

+1 we only pre-boil not soak, but make sure you use full fat coke, waste of time using anything else imo.

Don't get confused and use Nigella's other favourite type of coke.
