MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
We're off to the Renault World Series this Sunday and I wondered how slick Silverstones traffic management is nowadays! Its been 10 years since I last went there and it was pretty shocking then hence why I've avoided the place for so long and seen my racing elsewhere.
We're planning on hitting Silverstone for 8.30ish then leaving by 3ish - would you try and get there earlier?
Worked well with the F1 weekend but then there are staff everywhere and road closures which works well. I'm on my way down there today to work the weekend so I'll keep you posted.
Yeah it was also good for MOTO GP, in and out with no fuss - a far cry from Donington!!!!
We went for the Classic last year and it's fine. I remember going to see British GTs in the 90s and having a 1 hour queue to get out of the carpark. It's not like that now.
It's a piece of piss these days TBH, I doubt you'll even be delayed. The A43 is coned-off, all traffic goes one way and it's all dual carriage-way. and a wee event like this, I doubt it'll even be full.
Me too!
😀
I doubt it'll even be full.
Hmmm - have you not been to a RWS event! Free tickets = loads of people.

Yes, they've had the warning messages on the local matrix signs on the M1 and A43 over the past few weeks - including last weekend when LMS was on (which didn't seem to warrant a mention).
Traffic management is pretty good these days, F1 Sundays are still fairly hectic, but are hugely better than before the A43 dualling. As others have said, MotoGP weekend seemed to go without a hitch - although we cycled in to the back of the circuit 😉
I live in Brackley. Even when the GP is on nowadays there's no traffic jams.

Pffftt, there's more helicopter congestion these days
Actually, Moto GP wasn't great this year - on the Sunday morning it was solid from Silverstone up to the M1, but I think that was triggered by accidents/breakdowns. Delay was minimal from the south.
Get here early. Spoke to a couple of folks today and they said it was shite
Home from a great day, apart from the 2 hrs queuing from the M1 at j15a to the circuit and then the 1 hour back out.
To anyone going tomorrow, make sure you watch the trials rider in the arena area next to the demo driving area, there not the best trials riders i have seen but 3 of the cheerleader/dancers are hot 😉
Well we went and got in fine (arrived 9ish), but I can now remember why its over 10 years since I last went!!
Its just a cold, bland and characterless circuit and the 'improvements' seem to have made this far worse! The cars look lost on the track and spectators are now pushed too far back.
Oh and the toilets were covered in sick and shite by mid-day. Just filthy.
I'll certainly be adopting a ABS policy (Anywhere But Silverstone) to my motorsport viewing in future.
We left at 2pm wishing we'd gone to Donington instead!
Weird as i thought it was a great day especially as everything was provided for FREE!! mr muffin man how can you complain at that!!
we had a great weekend, moved around a lot. Luffield, Brooklands, Copse, Beckets/maggots and the new arena were all good places to watch without going too far. Stood on the inside at copse for the final F1 demo, which was fast.
Where did you stand then?
My only complaint is the prices and quality of food and drink. £5 for a ****in pie or a lips and aresoles burger!!!! £3 for a very small cup of coffee!!! £2.50 for a bloody ice-cream
