I have a friend who does some very interesting testing for, among others, Aston Martin and Land Rover. He's been paid to be playing on a frozen lake for a while! Every now and then he brings something to play with, like the time I had a play in a Series 3 Disco for the weekend about a year before the launch! His mission from above? "See if you can make the gearbox or drivetrain give up. Just try and kill it, would you?"
Weekend on Salisbury Plain ensued. Superb fun, awesome car! My fave bit was me doing about something in excess of 60mph along one of the metalled tracks below Sidbury. Right past a group of Landy off-roader types. As I blatted past, you could see them all, either;
1 - Staring open mouthed, thinking, "Is that what I think it is?"
2 - Desperately fumbling in their pockets to try and get hold of a camera to take a picture. "They'll never believe me, never"
