We will be in touch
We are about to go to Australia for an extended holiday but I need to have access to the internet whilst I am there. Some of the time I will be at my brother in law's house where I can use their wifi, but other times we'll be travelling (so I will be in Sydney, Brisbane, Noosa and Whitsunday Island). What is the best way of getting internet (not fusssed on phone coverage, I can use web services to contact UK).
Would it be easiest to get an Australian sim card for my (unlocked) phone or is there other 4G dongles or such things (does Australia even have decent 4G coverage?
Cheers
If you have a Three contract, it's on their Feel At Home package. Fair usage policy is something like 13GB a month.
Otherwise, just get a SIM whilst you're there. There's only three networks but many MVNOs so loads of choice...
We just picked up a cheap SIM for the phone and WiFi hotspot. They had a range of PAYG deals. Was easy enough. Plenty of WiFi about too.
Aus Sim is cheap enough, how much data do you need? Lots of tourist places have wifi enabled towns too which makes life easy, for simplicity getting an Oz sim and number means you can organise stuff and talk to people there without it costing them anything.
Get Telstra for coverage, slightly less for your $$ but works in most places
SIM good cos then you can use Google Maps as a Satnav.
Remember to turn your phone the other way up.
I'm off to Oz again soon, but last time I was out there, Wi-Fi was freely available all over the major cities at least.
(does Australia even have decent 4G coverage?
Oh and in places way better than the UK...
