I have just bought one.

I also have memory map software. Anybody know how to make the memory-map map appear as the map you look at on the gps (rather than the rubbish one it comes with)? I cant find it in the instructions.

I have put the map on an SD card & its in the units ...but there must be a away of making the GPS read it.

Ta in advance

You can only use Garmin TOPO maps or Citymaps.

Yeh, pants 🙁

The roady ones arent too bad & as I live in the South I can never get more than about a mile from a road, so they may have to do.

£149.99 thats too much... far far too much

You can get them cheaper than that (much cheaper if you look hard enough). Don't bother with the Topo, it's shite. Also, do your route planning on Bike Route Toaster(or MM and export as a GPX).

Sorry to tell you, the unit is next to uaseless with just the base map installed.

if you insist on buying maps though, tracklogs is now compatible with the 6/705

you may need to download the beta version though

you'll need to look further for an unlock code generator (I assume)....

The Topo maps are better than nothing off-road, they show contours, ground cover and paths, but it doesn't differentiate between footpaths, bridleways and any other type of path.
