Anyone got a Garmin Forerunner 965?

My Garmin Forerunner 645 Music has died after 5 years of daily use, the battery kept running out every few days and this morning it was dead and will not charge, so i need to replace it

Looking at the current crop of Garmin's and the Forerunner 965 fits the bill in looks and functions, currently on sale on the Garmin website for £500 which is cheaper than anywhere else ive seen so far

How has yours been long term, any issues, things to watch out for etc...?

I’m get from an expert but

I think the core functions of the epix 2, fenix 7 and 965 are the same

The screens and cases vary

Currently the fenix 7 is cheap (£350 at curry’s) and the epix is cheaper than the 965 as well. The epix 2 seems to have gone up in price recently, mine was £385 in January

The 965 might be right for you but a bit of research might save some cash

Just had to replace the wife’s forerunner as that had stopped syncing for some reason. Looked at what was about and decided to get the fenix 7 from curries rather than another forerunner.

Even the 265 was more than the fenix 7 when I looked a couple of days ago. She is very happy with it so far.

currently on sale on the Garmin website for £500

£480 with STW members discount.

ampthill is right though the core functionality is same for a number of products. Epix includes topo maps free. the others may not..? I bought Epix £325 from recent PSA but has gone up since, but maybe it'll get discounted again.

Fenix 7 does not have the amoled screen. The Epix and 965 do and once you have seen it, you wont want anything less!

I have the 965 and its excellent. Have had many variations of the trialthlon/multi sport Garmins, since the 305, and they just get better and better. No faults and nothing to complain about. writs based HR is never great for really sweaty activities, so I use a chest strap for them. Running/footy/mtb is fine with wrist though. Its basically the same as the 955, but with the amoled screen. Yes, I know gps improved, slightly bigger screen, prob more activities and health stats, but main features the same - music, garmin pay, excellent mapping. Battery lasts approx 2 weeks without gps activities. 1 week with.

I bought my OH a 955 just as they 965 came out. Got it with a huge discount… it’s pretty amazing tbh, better than my lowly 945!  (If only for the touch screen which works better than I thought it would.)  anyway, it’s an option that’s two-tyres cheaper than the 965.

So the Forerunner 965 has been ordered from Garmin

Got it for £480 in the end due to Garmin's birthday day sale and the wife's work discount scheme, so saved £120 over the price all the other shops are selling them for

Epic Gen 2 still available for the heavily discounted £325 using code ‘GARMIN’ from here:

That Forerunner looks a lot nicer IMHO though.
