Going on a couple of week long touring rides in the summer and looking to get a sat-nav type Garmin that will get me from A to B.
Thinking the Garmin 800 at the moment since it has a lot of performance features on it that I can use on local rides too. As far as I can tell the only difference between the Touring and the 800 is the round trip creation on the Touring. And the 810 has live tracking which is not essential.
Want to beable to put destination postcode in like car sat-nav. Is this how the 800 works?
Also the basemaps are only a-roads and motorways? Is that correct? If so the purchase of CityNavigator or 50k Discoverer sd maps will be necessary.
Anyone got these - recommend/not recommend?!

This has been useful for comparison:
