I just have a regular single garage, standard height ceiling.
I need something to keep 4 road bikes and 1 mtb out of the way. I assume wall hooks are the best solution?

6 motorbikes 2 mountain bikes and my bmx.. all in a single garage
have 4 motorbikes at one end sideways on with a supported sheet of 10mm ply above.
the push bikes stand on the ply one motorbike stands against a side wall and the other is on the work stand leaving plenty of room in the carpeted area to get around the work stand/ work on the full length bench.. radio 2 on the dab radio and heated by a rad on a spur from the house.. lit by two tubes and a dozen downlighters.. cosy

Yeah I'm thinking two side by side, head to toe. then two above side by side, with one lurking for use?

Tesco sells very cheap wheel hooks, £1 for 2 when I got mine.

I've usually got 2 bikes hanging from the roof, 2 underneath and the others just along the wall. A simple bar across the roof joists to hook saddles over works well (as it happens, with me it's an old roofrack but a bit of old wood'd work)

You can get five across the end wall if you top to tail them.

I've got one of these:

Works ok but obviously you've no control as to how far apart the bikes are from one another. I'll take a pic of it if you want once it's light again.

Four of my five bikes are locked together standing on the ground, with a ground anchor and selection of locks and cables. If I did get burgled they would have their work cut out for sure. Just a single garage too.

This may be a daft question but when hanging a bike by the wheel does it put any stress on any part of the bike? Was mainly thinking of the steerer tube and headset area?

Mr mojo-I had to replace several spokes on my full sus as it was hanging from it's front wheel and they pulled out. I'm sure it was to do with my son hanging/bouncing from it at times!
However, it's such a good storage solution that this wouldn't put me off hanging them again!

I have a single and a bit garage and they are all stood on floor except the bmx and wife's bike as shes heavily pregnant at the mo, which are hung by rope sling from rafters.

I also have the equivalent to 5 kitchen units in there and a metre long workbench. I have to shuffle them around a lot tho.

The full size bike count at floor level is 3 wide bars and a set of drops plus a set of wide bars in the workstand.
