Designing house extension, and I want some of those really wide (but not very tall) windows like they have in French chalets.

Anyone know where I can get them in the UK ? I don't want have to go to the Mr Bricolage in Sallanche...

Thanks

Most windows are made to measure. you choose the size and shape

I don't know what French "chalet" windows are, but I do know what ordinary French windows are (uk definition): inward opening fully glazed exterior doors (in pairs).

But I assume that isn't what you mean - you want inward opening windows which come on pairs without a central mullion.

I think you will seriously struggle to find inward opening windows with a "gueule du loup" closure in the UK. In the UK if there isn't a central mullion we just have rebates - a crap idea compared to the French gueule du loup I know, but I very much doubt whether their are any cutters anywhere in the UK for spindle moulders to form traditional gueule du loup. I also doubt you would get the ironmongery which is an integral part of the system. A trip over to France is the answer I reckon.

many thanks, ernie, now at least I've got the vocabulary. Mrs flap_jack has fluent French so now we're in with a chance.
I think I want each pane about 1m high and 1.5 wide, but probably opening out rather than in. I fear this is going to cost a fortune (which I don't have)...
