Anybody know where/if I can download something like Command and Conquer for free.

I'm running XP if that makes a difference.

AFAIK C&C isn't abandon ware yet so you might struggle.

In my experience most free games (that aren't abandonware or the company who published it have decided to give it out free after a few years) are pretty crap. You can get C&C for free but it isn't exactly legal!

I fancy something to dip in and out of when its a bit slow at work. There is only so much Raft Wars and Cargo Bridge you can play.

I was looking for Lemmings the other week but couldn’t find a version that works with Windows 7 which is a bugger as that’s a cool game.

take a look at quake live if you enjoyed quake arena. you have to install a download but they've polished it up a bit, there's lots of servers, it runs in a browser window, and it's free too! 8)
