Sort of related, but if anyone has an Android phone then try out the free WiFi Tether application. Turns the phone into a mini wireless router which anything can connect to.
Current location gets 3G at 800kbps and with unlimited* download with T-Mobile I've saved £20/month in broadband fees.
* They have a 5GB "fair usage" cap but have never come close to this, and even if I do exceed it they won't charge.
