They should make them all have a great big fight and get it over with.

I don't know - didn't seem entirely unreasonably when you considered what was applied to STR's new driver. Personally I'd say that he should be allowed to test - MS is only racing through misfortune (eg Massa's accident) rather than being of their own making (firing Bourdais) but there you go.

correct decision surely! that new 12 year old chap wasn't allowed to test his torro rosso.

And as Williams pointed out, Ferrari have two test drivers who've driven the car who could be the subs rather than MS..

Yeah - what's the issue?

your moan seems to be that fairness has won out?

Jaime Whotsisname (STR) did not ask for a test. Had STR asked they may have been granted one.

F1 is pretty unrewarding unless you know a fair bit about what is going on.

How exactly do F1 manage it, as far as I can tell almost all other sports manage to make their top level of competition more interesting to watch than the lower divisions, yet with F1 nearly all other motorsports (apart from some American drivel) are hugely more entertaining to watch

Yup, and Piquet's replacement probably won't be allowed to test before Spa. So 2 rookies can't test but one of the best driver's in F1's history should be allowed to? Yeah right.

From my experience all motor racing can be as dull as ditchwater sometimes - no matter what the category. I fell asleep in the grandstands at Silverstone one whilst attempting to watch an F3000 race!

And to answer the OP, is think FW is correct to block the test. If anyone should be capable of jumping into a car with no testing it should be a seven time world champion.

Correct judgement. Fair point by Williams.

As GlenP said. I'm far from a Schu fan but in the spirit of motorsport, why not? If Toro had asked why not? All the other teams said yes but pissy Williams- playing politics. Idiots.

Seems a bit harsh at first but I think it's fair enough. As others have said the new Toro Rosso guy didn't get to test, and it's not much good having rules if you then start making exceptions. Don't forget that testing isn't just (or even mostly) about the driver getting some practice- Ferrari would be getting a lot of info about the car from those laps that the other teams wouldn't. I'm more surprised that the others said yes than that Williams said no.

it's not playing politics - it's just the rules!

No-one gets to test, regardless of reasoning - thats why they're called rules and not guidelines. MS should be more than capable of jumping in the car and driving it fairly well, and he can test in a car that is nearly identical no problems.

Motorsport has no spririt anymore, thats what happens when things turn professional.

Seems unnecessarily arsy and a bit petty.

We have injured a driver, we want to swap him for a world champion, can we have some testing time - I know you said no to the other guys who were bringing in a new young driver but we're special aren't we? MTFU.

I suspect Williams are still a bit upset about getting kicked out of FOTA.

Both Red Bull teams have objected now as well.

As Mr Salmon said Ferrari and Schumacher could take advantage to run a few mods on the car. A whole days testing is a lot of laps. Schumacher's professional enough and ruthless enough to make the most of every situation.

Quite complement to him really that Williams seem to be running scared.

ive just seen the daily mashes take on this and i loved their summing up of F1........

It can't be easy making all that speed, glamour and money produce something utterly boring - it is just train-spotting in leather jackets.

Its thoroughly fair as the new driver for Torro Rosso ( Spaniard ) did not get any test drives prior to his baptism at Hungary.
At least Herr Schumy has his wealth of experience to rely on..
I think its more unfair to ban Alonso, why cannot he race in Valencia but team be denied any constructors points ?
Its ludicrous to deny the Spanish fans their hero ..
